Four stars because I enjoyed the reading, the story is intriguing, and the characters are pretty nicely developed. Wish I knew how to give an extra half a star. I couldn't help but smell, taste and see the wonderful scenes and I found myself reading out loud in dialects and accents. The story is a sensory delight, I feel like I've been to pre-Marxist Havana before the nation was ruined. No story spoilers here, but that vacuum salesmen can often be much more than you figure. ...more

Wonderful stuff. A delicious satire based on Greene's own time working in the intelligence community, the action is both ridiculous and plausible. Strangely controversial because of its satirical nature, for me this is essential reading for espionage fans. ...more
