Really enjoyed this book, until the end. I thought it ran out of steam and tailed off badly.
Good as a history of the CIA but heavy handed and somewhat obvious as a novel.
I really liked this book. The characters were great, the prose was sharp and the plot compelling.
Pretty much a detailed history of the CIA and its fight/defeats against KGB in the Cold War!
Fascinating dialogues from real world characters such as Philby and Angel.
Few of the set-pieces read almost le Carre-an in pace and suspense.
