What Members Thought

I recently read an article that named Frederick Forsyth's 'Day of the Jackal' as one of the best political thrillers of all time. I recalled I'd read it when first released nearly 50 years ago, loved it, and thought it might be worth a re-read. It certainly was. It's a fictional account of an assassination attempt on French President deGaulle that reads like the best of non-fiction, with totally believable characters and situations. I loved it for a 2nd time!

Usually listening to audiobooks I only listen to about an hour or so a day, drag them out for a few weeks or longer, not the case with The Day of Jackal, listened to it in two days, masterly narrated by Simon Prebble that made the 13 hours of the tale as suspenseful, and tense as the first time I read the book.
