i’m all for some fluff now and then, especially when it’s a mystery-romance blend (no coffee pun intended), but it really annoyed me that every. little. thing. was explained. subtle allusions to how characters feel about each other? yes, but then let’s also flat out spell out those feelings right after. a small clue about the murder mystery? let’s bash the reader over the head with it. ugh.
This coffeeshop mystery was steamy, dark, and hefty--in other words, it was a bag of hot garbage. Firstly, let me disclose that I was hoping for a light, trashy mystery, and technically this falls into that category. However, it also suffers from some pretty egregious flaws.
