'A Divided Spy', the 3rd in Charles Cumming's Thomas Kell series, is the weakest of the group but is still a worthwhile spy thriller. It can be read as a standalone, but it helps to have consumed the first 2.

Cumming mananges to give the story of Discraced MI6-officer Thomas Kell yet another twist, making the reader see the events of the former books in a different light. Excellent plotting, high-intensity top-notch writing.
I enjoyed reading several prior novels by Charles Cumming, and find his stories and espionage thrillers some of the best writing in the modern genre. Unfortunately, the Thomas Kell character has gone stale IMO. Basically, it's the same formula. Kell is the discredited, jaded former SIS agent who "stumbles" into leads involving Russian plots, agents and terrorism. Thomas Kell seemed sloppy this time around. But depressing ending. I guess we'll see no more of Agent Kell.
