The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien may have been origionally written with the target audience being that of children but regardless of whatever intentions it may have had Tolkien could not of predicted how this would change in so becoming a book that was and is still read and loved by not just children but teenagers and adults alike, becoming a universal publication that so many have enjoyed and delighted in. Written for his sons, JRR Tolkien's "The Hobbit" is a delightful tale. It happens years before "The Lord of the Ring," and readers get to 1st discover the power of the one ring.

The Hobbit is a great children's book that's complex enough for older readers to enjoy as well. It's not a "world in peril" epic tale like Tolkien's later works, but it has a charm of its own and has a good flow.
