Firstly, I won this book as a Good Reads First Reads contest winner. Thanks to Scott for sending this out.

So sadly there just isn't much here to review. The story itself is less then 30 pages and not in-depth by any means. Apparently from a quick web search the the second to this book has been completed. I may suggest combining them and perhaps the next few stories into one book?

The story itself felt like a poorly played out role-play between two characters on a World of Warcraft Role Playing Realm (if you don't know what that is consider yourself lucky). At times...Most of the time... the language was annoying with lots of first person observations (lots of I's), at times statement repetition and other times I felt as if a thesaurus was used then hastily discarded. I couldn't figure out if this was a creative high school writing project/essay or as I said previously something taken out of a game/fantasy world of someone else's. The dialogue was pretty bad, it got the story across but bordering on stupid as well as too formal. The characters were, let's say, dim-witted and completely unable to come out of their pre-disposed character sheets an Elf, who talks to animals/plants and hates demons. Then a human "sentinel" with a 3-star blade who is part of an apparent female only clan, healer, etc (any of this sounding familiar?) it's nothing that hasn't been said before.

I just really don't feel I can give a FULL fair review of it as I don't think it was a book. It was a short story, that's it. The story left so much still unexplained and hanging that I really felt as if I shouldn't have picked it up since there was absolutely zero conclusion to any of the plot problems. This isn't fair to any reader. The overall style is immature and I am still unsure what age range this publication is aiming for, but it definitely isn't anyone over 14.
