It's extremely hard to put down! Taken.

My favorite character was Peeta Mellark. I liked the cliffhanger at the end.

"Happy hunger games, may the odds be ever in your favor."

Well, it has been a HOT minute since I have read this book. To be honest, 25 ish year old me isn't as impressed as 15 year old me. I hate to say it, but I think the movie did it better, at least in regards to this book. I liked how the movie got away from just katniss pov and let us see it through snows view, the citizens, the capital, and to experience it as such. Well, it has been a HOT minute since I have read this book. To be honest, 25 ish year old me isn't as impressed as 15 year old me. I hate to say it, but I think the movie did it better, at least in regards to this book. I liked how the movie got away from just katniss pov and let us see it through snows view, the citizens, the capital, and to experience it as such. With just Katniss pov...it's slightly lack luster. Maybe it's the narrator but with some important events, it just came across as monotone or neutral. I didn't really feel for the character or feel how she felt. And I certainly didn't get madly in love vibes, and Snow didn't either. I understand that Katniss is someone to root for, she is just a girl who tried to save her sis and now has to battle for her life. Okay great. But...what else is there? She seems so plain complained to heroines nowadays, maybe it's the trauma that authors topple onto the characters that make them vicious and intriguing. Even katniss herself says she isn't worth watching in the games except for when she was with Rue and Peeta.

I do have to admit that I get where people say, its book peeta but movie gale. Cause peeta is actually really sweet and innocent and he deserves to be protected at all costs. But in this book, even katniss doesn't know what to think about with gale. So yeah..

I understand that is it the world that is primarily what swept our reader nation long ago, how controlling and oppressive it could be and the parallel to our world now. But I honestly do not care or want to get into that. But I do recognize that may impact my experience of the novel and series.

Overall, I thought it was an alright story. Least it was fast paced and not truly boring, despite all the moving around in the arena and only Katniss narration for company. There we're some highlights, and I suppose the romance is perfect for a teenager, with some angst and cute kisses and longing. But for me? Maybe they should of made it x rated and banged in the cave. Might of given it more stars. Remember, this is all my opinion and if you want your own, read the book. ...more

I loved this book!!!! I’m totally obsessed with the series now!

Suzanne Collins has a great writing style and makes the book very easy to read and understand. You will definitely ‘get’ this book because it is written in 1st person. Hearing Katniss’s thoughts is crucial to the story and I can’t imagine reading this any other way.

Is definitely a must read, though not really for young kids. Probably 13+, maybe 12+, just depends on how well you can handle violence. Lots of death...
