This one is also on my list of "I read this so long ago that my memory of it is literally blank."
I first read an abridged version of it, translated in Persian when I was 12, and I remember liking it so much that I asked my dad to get me an unabridged version and I liked that one, too. I have to admit that this book was not at all what I expected it to be. I had heard of the myth of Miss Havisham and that was pretty much all I knew. So, when I finished, I was in shock. I pretty much devoured the novel - I adored all of the fantastic Dickensian details. I think my favourite must be how Dickens described how red Mrs Joe's face was when he proclaimed:
'it was possible she washed herself with a nutmeg-grater instead of soap'.
