I know other stories have used a similar premise of relating vampirism to a virus, but no one can do it in the same way that JCP does. Wow. I gotta say, again. JCP does NOT disappoint. Always a winner! And the characters are always flawed in such a way, you still gotta love em.
So. This virus thing, well it just so happened to come around after HIV, and is considered WAY worse, with everyone taking extreme cautionary measures to not in any way touch anything or get in close proximity to someone w ...more

Good thriller, exciting. Very different take on vampires, even different than those that label it a virus. Very well done. I couldn't put it down. I even read in the car while my 73-year-old mom drove which is incredibly rude. At least I was in the back seat. Lots of OMG-he's-gonna-die moments, hospital scenes, does-he-or-doesn't-he, etc. Not explicit really, although there is a scene that has a hand job that we go through the whole thing but the detail is sketchy and no explicit words are used.

Jordan Castillo Price always delivers amazing world-building, and Hemovore is no exception. In a world where the emergence of HIV/AIDS is overshadowed after only a decade by HHV — human hemovore virus (casually known as vampirism) — love (and life in general) has become exponentially more complicated.
Jonathan and Mark feel a little less complex than Jordan's later characters, but they're still fully realized people. In fact, one of the things that I liked a lot about the book was (view spoiler) ...more

Just so you know, Joel was a PERFECT choice to narrate this one. Bravo!

Hemovore is taut thriller that's set in an alternative universe Chicago where vampirism exists, but unlike in stories like Dracula or Twilight, vampirism is a virus, and most who catch it don’t survive. Those who do are more like the vampires we know from pop culture--subsist on blood, allergic to sunlight, beautiful, and with attuned abilities such as strength, speed, or higher awareness.
