Writing tidbit: I didn't know who was ratting on Vic to the FPMP until I was about 2/3 of the way through the book. The character it turns out to be was my best friend in my 20's -- and while I was writing Camp Hell we were supposed to get together, and he stood me up! I thought, okay, buddy-boy. Oh Victor, Victor, Victor you poor dear! It’s fun to finally get to see a little bit of the nastiness that was Camp Hell. Of course I love Vic’s inner voice and seeing things through his eyes. Vic is <3. No wonder Jacob is head over heels for him.
The thing I've enjoyed most about these books is the growing and deepening relationship between Vic and Jacob and watching Vic come into himself after all the trauma he's been through. He's whip smart and knows how to protect himself, but he's so much more than that, too.
These have also been a bit of a master-class on writing a series based around one couple. ...more
