This is a long time coming friends to lovers story. This is a story with a darker edge to it, but so worth reading. Phillip has carried around the conflict of loving Ryan and the fear of giving in to it. His trauma as a small boy has left him emotionally shut down. I liked Ryan's determination to face Phillip with the truth of his love. Phillip impressed me because even with all his anxiety, he took a leap of faith and reached out to Ryan. The ending is very nicely done.
