Fantastic debut book. The dynamics between Jay and her family are so incredibly loaded with tension and history. I loved how real the conflict felt without casting anyone as moustache twirlingly evil of beyond redemption. Every point of strain is complex and deepens our understanding of why the characters act in the way they do even if we may not agree with them.
