This book was all right but I didn't really get too immersed in it as with some other books. It was an interesting concept and very well written. I enjoyed the writers style. I did feel like there could have been more to the ending and wonder if there might be a sequel. All in all though, it was a pretty good read for a YA novel

The giver is one of those good solid dystopian books. Everything is cleared out right from the beginning. There isn't so much to learn throughout the book about the society and I think that was very appealing to the reader. The emotion between the characters isn't so strong but the tension is amazing. What I mean by that? The entire book is talking about colors and emotions and discovering about ones self. Not necessarily about the connections between the characters.
