What Members Thought

The giver is one of those good solid dystopian books. Everything is cleared out right from the beginning. There isn't so much to learn throughout the book about the society and I think that was very appealing to the reader. The emotion between the characters isn't so strong but the tension is amazing. What I mean by that? The entire book is talking about colors and emotions and discovering about ones self. Not necessarily about the connections between the characters.

I think this book was my primary reason for my political development. As a 7th grader, we read this book in school and it definitely opened my eyes to what I believe. The over-bearance of the government in this book is an understatement and anyone who is not sure where they stand on the roll of government in your life should read this book. It is an extremist view of a future with the government choosing every aspect of your life for you. Great for kids who have no idea what to believe or why -
