What a ride! This book has a little bit of everything in it. Mystery, romance, and a bit of suspense! And let's not forget the beautiful setting up Europe. In this book, it takes us to the lower parts of France, Austria, and a part of Italy.

Last June I was absolutely delighted with Glamorous Illusions and was really looking forward to getting my eyes upon the next part of the story in Grave Consquences. During the wait I even had time to fit in a great post that you can even go back to see, a Coming Soon from the Pen post with Lisa. The first thing that stands out to me in continuing the story of Cora in the second novel for this Grand Tour Series is that to fully understand the characters a reader would sincerely benefit from read Last June I was absolutely delighted with Glamorous Illusions and was really looking forward to getting my eyes upon the next part of the story in Grave Consquences. The first thing that stands out to me in continuing the story of Cora in the second novel for this Grand Tour Series is that to fully understand the characters a reader would sincerely benefit from reading Glamorous Illusions, the first novel before hand. While there is probably a chance you could enjoy Grave Consequences without it, you would have missed a lot of the building of personalities and situations to explain why the characters are why and where they are.

When I started into Grave Consquences and for a while, I just kept thinking that Cora seemed different. Something about the tone and I was wondering if it was a change in the author’s writing, but as I kept turning page after page what I realized was it was the individual and person of Cora that was changing. Going from the Montana farm to the unimaginable regency lifestyle as well as an upside-down thought process toward the word and idea of a “father” is big stuff and that reflects on Cora’s words and thoughts that we as readers get to delve into. Not to mention throwing romance into the equation…

I loved the contrasts between Cora and Will and while even part of me liked Pierre, watching and waiting and going back and forth and screaming in my head for what they characters should do… Oh, it’s fabulous when a good read really gets me and my emotions involved! Hands down, my favorite scene is from Cora’s walk, when she ends up in the tower and Will comes to “check on her”. *sigh* I did not see it coming, and I loved it. Yet that’s what Lisa does in her writing. She weaves a powerful tale that is so much more than just gowns and romance. The characters have such personality that they truly come off the page, even the despicable ones such as Hugh…

Having this series described as powerful and epic fits well. Lisa’s books often stand above others in that they just cannot be rated the same. They just contain so much more than a flimsy romance to distract one for a day. Yes there is romance, and mystery, but there is so much more to that in these pages. You gotta love a good chunkster book, and especially when they are as entertaining, thrilling, enchanting and romantic as this. I cannot wait to read Glittering Promises come October!

Cora Kensington has it hard. Taken from her comfortable country home and parents, she's brought into a well-to-do family she didn't know she belonged to until recently. Lime-light didn't seem to suit her, but now she has a part to play in it, and she must learn to cope with it. As well as her biological father's wishes for her.
