Cory Brand was born to win baseball. To hit home runs that seemed impossible, to be the hero his father could never be. It was his purpose in life, despite the cruelty of his childhood. Running from his past and spiraling out of control despite his insistence to the contrary, he finally gets the reality check he's had coming for years - and gets suspended from the team. Regrets of the past overshadow him like a dark cloud and frustration with present circumstances keep him from realizing how far ...more

What a wonderful book " Home Run " by Travis Thrasher. The book is made from the movie. This is a book based on addiction. There are many addictions but this one is a story about a baseball player Cory Brand. Teams top player but he starts messing up because of his alcohol addiction. Blames his life down falls
on his father who was abusive to him and younger brother Clay growing up. Instead of turning to God he turns to a bottle. His life just keeps going down hill till he is suspended for eight

I'm not into sports. I wouldn't know a touchdown from a hole in one. Okay, so maybe that's exaggerating, but reading a book about a baseball star and his messed up life is seriously NOT my first choice in fiction. But here I am, recommending a novel about a baseball supernova who's an alcoholic deadbeat dad. Why? Because Home Run has a powerful message of redemption (and the writing is drool worthy).

The plot centers around main character Cory Brand. I won't call him a hero, because for most of t

Wow, what an incredible story!

Cory Brand is a popular baseball star that seems to have it all. What folks don't know is that he is struggling with his past and his temper and alcoholism. Cory's very abusive father also struggled with addiction.

This book is a window into a man's life while he battles with the consequences of addiction and his anger. It shows how many people can be affected by one person's decision and how difficult recovery can be.

I enjoyed this powerful story about forgiveness a

Home Run is an amazing read. I loved reading about how much Cory's story. And learning how much he had to overcome, how to forgive, what is important, how to grow up, and of God's love. I'm looking forward to see how the book is portrayed in the movie.
Highly recommended.
I received this book from bookfun.org for review.

Cory Brand wanted to go to the majors as a baseball player but his life is a disaster. Can he get it together to achieve his goal? This was a wonderfully written story of showing the need for God is ALL areas of your life. It will take a grip on your soul and you will not want to put this one down. I can't wait for the movie to come out.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honet review.
