3.5 to 4 hot stars...not quite what I was hoping for....
I will start by recommending that Real is read first so that the characters and story are understood at the opening of this book.

Mine is the story of Remy “Riptide” Tate, a fighter who is so inherently broken that his only fix in life is the one thing he has claimed as his, Brooke Dumas. Remy and Brooke have endured the most dramatic song and dance in Evans’s book Real, and they are now in a happy place together. Mine is the continuation o 3.5 to 4 hot stars...not quite what I was hoping for....
I will start by recommending that Real is read first so that the characters and story are understood at the opening of this book.

Mine is the story of Remy “Riptide” Tate, a fighter who is so inherently broken that his only fix in life is the one thing he has claimed as his, Brooke Dumas. Remy and Brooke have endured the most dramatic song and dance in Evans’s book Real, and they are now in a happy place together. Mine is the continuation of their story in which Remy continues to fight in his profession while together they fight for their love and life.

I began this read with the highest of expectations. Remy is the epitome of alpha male perfection. He is physically strong and beautiful, possessive, full of raw emotion, and off the charts sexually charged. He has a take-no-prisoner mentality in life and he takes immediate ownership of what he feels is HIS. Mostly, Remy is dark and damaged without the ability to see his worth beyond his fragmented mind. My expectations fell a bit with his main reason to breathe, Brooke. This woman was a one time Olympic hopeful who basically lost herself in anything Remy. She has lost her sense of self and cannot get through a minute of the day without physically connecting with this man. I missed the sassy Brooke Dumas who was a force personally and professionally but is now just insanely jealous and insecure.

The strength of this book is Katy Evans’s ability to create Remy through Brooke’s loving eyes. Her perception of him is palpable. As Brooke is pulled to her man, her need for him creates a visceral response with the reader. I found myself sweating and audibly panting with their interactions. However...my main problem with this book was somewhat the same concept. It got a bit repetitious with Brooke and Remy's constant need to be with each other. The "I cannot live without seeing or feeling you" was very overwhelming.

In the end, I was struggling with my feelings toward the book as a whole. It was not the powerhouse romance that left me in a bubble of happiness. Instead, I found Remy to be the main reason I turned each page. He was an extension from book one and I enjoyed all his damages and honesty. Brooke and the rest of story was a bit secondary for me.!!! ...more

I do not believe I am gifted enough of a writer to truly put into words how much I adored this book, this story or these characters. There has been conversations going around FB on which book was better, Real or Mine, but to be honest I do not think it is either or, it has to be both. Remy and Brooke's continued story in Mine is deep, emotional even it a bit consuming at times. What an emotional sequel to back up from the first book of the series Real. So thankful we are met with Brooke and Remy reunited after a nail biting ending.

The story sets off 2 months after the end of Real, which leaves these two on the road fighting to reclaim the championship that was lost. But not without also, rebuilding the relationship that was shattered. As the relationship grows and develops into a strong and solid bond, the chemistry and love is felt for these two as they prove to one What an emotional sequel to back up from the first book of the series Real. So thankful we are met with Brooke and Remy reunited after a nail biting ending.

The story sets off 2 months after the end of Real, which leaves these two on the road fighting to reclaim the championship that was lost. But not without also, rebuilding the relationship that was shattered. As the relationship grows and develops into a strong and solid bond, the chemistry and love is felt for these two as they prove to one another that this is it and there will be no more running.

As I stare at him this morning just like every morning for the past few months, I tell myself I am not dreaming, he's not a fantasy, he is real. My REAL. ~ Brooke

When things start to become the norm and life is treating them well, a shake up occurs where Brooke was at a near lose of losing something precious, which Remy has to make the inevitable decision, for them to be apart for a long period of time. This literally broke my heart. This showed a dark side to Brooke which was filled with doubt during a time that she could only think too much. Thinking of Remy's previous bad indiscretions and questions can she trust him whilst she is away.

As time passes, things unravel with Brooke's family. Secrets are revealed with betrayal from loved ones. Then, when time was up for Brooke & Remy to be reunited, it was beautifully written how it was captured to feel the emotion when these two were brought back together. As they both couldn't function without the other during the time apart, they were now complete as one.

I thoroughly enjoyed Riley & Pete bringing more to the this book. They told some history behind what happened in Remy's past but also help protect Brooke from the evil of the Scorpion and others.

“You,” he says his voice terse and commanding… “are going to love me until I die. I’m going to make you love me even if it hurts, and when it hurts, I’m going to make it better.”

As one moment later in the book, we are met with Remy falling into a dark period after the return of his parents. After a lengthy period of time, Remy admits himself to treatment to remove himself from this darkside. To read through this part of the story from Brooke's point of view was gut-wrenching emotional. To be with the one person you love and to not be able to help in any possible way, but be by his side it would be hard. To have this treatment to overcome the dark moment, I was relieved that he bounces back. From his touch to licking and smelling her, Brooke knew her lion was back. Though this time also, Brooke slowly help Remy to return to his full self.

"Look at you", I say lovingly in his ear. I lick the back of his ear softly, like he does to me, running my hands down the length of him, petting him like he pets me. " I love, adore, cherish, need, and want you like I never thought possible to love and adore and cherish and need and want another human being or anything in this world," I whisper. He growls softly as if in gratitude.

Overall we are met with another heart wrenching, in depth emotional, jaw dropping love for these two. From their sex scenes (HOT), to emotional rollercoaster of evil, from Remy's past with his parents to his opponent, I was longing and so happy, were the story has left us for now.

Hats off to Katy Evans for another heart wrenching novel about Remy & Brooke's love story. I thoroughly enjoyed. I cannot wait with such excitement, to read Remy, which is in his point of view. This picks up from where Mine has left us. ...more

I just have to say this is not what I was expecting. I think I just read Book 1 again. Although we get a little more of Remy's backstory....and it was shoved in the back of the story. I did admire how Remy handles his life, on his terms. I have/had mad respect for the man. I dunno. But then, the story just got over shadowed with the licking, growling, petting and wetting. I got bored. Nora again.....? I guess I wanted more angst, more drama, some cheating for godsakes....I am apprehensive that b ...more
