I absolutely loved Whatever Remains by Lauren Gilley. An engaging, brilliantly written murder-mystery, second chance romance story. Every character in the book was so good especially Ben and Jade, hero and heroine.

I really enjoyed this one but it took me a bit to get into. Ben was distant and I get why but I had a bit of a hard time connecting with him.

Ok the story. It was very interesting, this couple who share a daughter who aren't together. You can feel the pain on both ends and while Ben isn't a deadbeat he's not father of the year either, but when a murder happens close to jade and Clara he breaks the rules and takes the case. I found the story hard to get into at first. Easy to put down and come back to. Then not too many chapters in I was hooked.

I guessed the who done-it before it was revealed but it was good seeing how they were identified as the killer. That didn't take away from the suspense nor the mystery one but!

Ben edging his way into Jade and their daughter Clara's life was a nice edge to the story. T
