I started into this read and was a bit on the fence...I read of a young girl taken against her will by a trusted friend. I read all the horrific details of her time in captivity. I have read this before, but I was starting to worry as I could not find any light in the situation...I could not stand for this situation to turn into a forever kinda thing. I have never been so happy to have read of a girl being sold...does that make me crazy? Well of course it does...then again perhaps you haven't me I started into this read and was a bit on the fence...I read of a young girl taken against her will by a trusted friend. When I think edge of my seat intrigue and brutally emotionally stories, I will now forever think K. Webster. This is a story of a young Baylee who was just getting to experience the highs and lows of first love...the trials and errors of intimacy with her high school boyfriend. This is a story of a young girl who lost everything at the hands of her trusted Gabriel. Her fathers best friend, her older fantasy was no other than the Devil himself. How could anyone physically or mentally survive the "love" he had to offer? How could a loss of freedom to the highest bidder be a relief? To say this read is DARK is a total understatement. It is brutally dark and I have to admit I was totally affected. I cringed, I held my breath, and I wanted to lock my doors. I also applauded a young woman's strength and determination. I loved having a young girl adapt to her situation and survive the best way she could. I also loved the emotional turmoil of her mind and body. It was done so well and it was quite riveting.

To get into the story is really an injustice to those who plan to read it. I don't think I have been captivated by two characters as Baylee and Warren McPherson. Damaged souls or survivors in their own right? Kindness in a world of imprisonment? Companionship in isolation.

Whether you are a believer in the premise that beauty can come from pure disgust or that anyone can be saved, This is War will definitely bring the feels, albeit gory and quite tortured it still delivers a budding romance within chaos.

In learning to live a new life, Baylee finds a purpose in the fragmented mind of a beautiful lonely mind. Only she can ease the constant mania and compulsions that own War. Baylee is Peace in a terribly sadistic situation. If only they can survive the promises once vowed by the devil himself...Gabriel! If only I can survive to the next book!!!! ...more

Whoah! I haven't been caught off guard like this in a long while!

This is a first K Webster read for me and can I just say I'm beyond pleased!

I read the 2 books in this duet back to back so I'm having a bit of difficulty separating my reviews for each book but imma' try...

In the start of my read, I actually thought I'll be reading another dark erotica with kidnapping theme, kinda' like Captive in the Dark but boy, was I wrong!

This was a great read! I unfortunately believed, "oh no another captive/slavery novel"which is
becoming super trendy. (CJ ROBERTS cannot be beaten) I was surprised and am anticipating the next novel hoping the twist leads to the parents? I like to imagine when an author leaves us hanging the worse~ :)
This was a great read! I do recommend, and will be using for book club this summer.
Full review to be blogged after I finish series. I seriously despise cliffhangers, and that is why I am giving it 4 ...more

This is War, Baby starts with a bang. Baylee, a 17 year old high school student is all about sex. She's come into her own and she loves to flaunt it. She has a boyfriend Brandon, whom she loves, and she has a sexy neighbor, Gabe, who she flirts with and turns on. Yeah, now come on...it blatantly states in the synopsis that this is full of dubious consent, with strong sexual the oh holy shit!

Didn't you, as a randy teen, have that taboo crush on your teacher, neighbor, or family friend? I can't be the only one, right! Shoot, even now, at 44, I have that odd little flutter when I see one of our sexy customers at work. Whew... I'm married, not dead!
So, Baylee is kidnapped, right from her house! Of course, she knows who it is, and boy, was she wrong about him...how could he do this to his friends daughter? While this was dark, and dubious consent? no, I'd say no freaking consent whatsoever...until it becomes about how good he makes her feel...and how she makes him feel. Even though he is going to sell her he tells her repeatedly, that he will be back...Just as soon as he can, he'll come and get her and they will have their happily ever after (at least that's what he thinks).
Baylee, scared shitless, is walking on a stage, all nervous, counting her steps, which draws a particular persons eye.
I know I'm synopsising the book here, and I HATE doing that, but I just want to shout that it's not all dark and dangerous. There is beauty found in the oddest places. Love found amidst the scars and turmoil. And fear...just waiting for the other shoe to drop...
K. Webster writes a FANTASTIC story here. I absolutely LOVE her dark books. Her characters are so well thought out. There's no wishy washy heroine here. There's only abused, scared, nervous and strong. War is amazing. To continue to live amidst the savagery that his mind battles with EVERY MINUTE OF EVERY DAY is amazing. And to WANT to be like he used to be..that's what love does to you.
But come ON! To leave me hanging like that? Thank GOD it's not for long...
The cliffhanger is AWESOME...I LOVE a well done cliffhanger and it can't get any better than this!

This novel is magnificent! As much as some scenes turned my stomach, the sweet and genuine scenes made my heart wriggle around like a pile of puppies!! This story draws you in and does not let you go till the very last sentence. This story will not be for everyone so if human trafficking or abuse is a trigger for you then STOP READING RIGHT NOW!! But if you are okay with those themes then I beg you stick with this wild ride because I wholly believe the bad times are totally worth the good times! This novel is magnificent! Baylee is your typical high school senior until she is stolen in the night and begins to face the toughest challenges in her entire life. One of the closest confidants in her life becomes a living nightmare that she will do anything to escape from but will it be like going from the frying pan and into the fire in this new man’s home? Will he break her and twist her world around like the man before him did? Or will he be her savior in his own dark and twisted way? Initially she was scared but now she understands that this is War and she is captivated.

War is dark inside, ugly, broken, and ruined. The demons come out of his head to play at the worst times and he is exhausted. Exhausted of freaking out, exhausted of the loneliness that wants to consume his soul, and so very, very exhausted of living. She is his last chance to come back from the dark abyss. Baylee. She fills his life with hope and light but it’s torture not being able to reach out to her, touch her, and even the unthinkable…kiss her. But regardless of their physical closeness, he has already claimed her and he will never let her leave.

Gabe is obsessed. Baylee is his and just because he loaned her out for a little bit doesn’t take away his ownership. He’s ready to come get his baby back and nothing and no one will stop him. He will break her down again and mold her into his perfect little wife. She will love him and love all of the deprave things he wishes to do to her. Ready or not Baylee, your nightmare’s come back to play.

This story was told in first person points of view of Baylee, Gabe, and War. There were also past/present points of view presented as well. This novel is a lot to swallow but that’s what makes it so unbelievably good! My favorite character hands down is War! I love him, I love him, I love him!!! His hardships cut me to pieces but when he found his peace I was just elated for him!

Ultimately, this is a fantastic dark romance novel that should be totally picked up by readers that like dark twisted reads!! This story does end on a killer cliff hanger but I’m positive the second installment in this series will make up for it!! Baylee seems like she will come into her badassness so I can’t wait to read what is in store for this trio!! All in all, if you love dark romances with a sweet tortured hero this come check out This is War, Baby and I promise you, you won’t regret it!!!

You have got to be shitting me?!? That was a well played cliff if I ever read one. So I went into this book blind. It was nothing like I was expecting...it was magnificent. The 29th can't get here soon enough because I NEED book 2.
