Sometimes I'll just dive into a book on blind faith or simply due to a recommendation of a trusted book friend. That was the case with This is War, baby. I'd never read a book before by K Webster but the dark premise of it called out to my inner dark-read whore.

Not going into a lot of detail on plot, this book is definitely of the darker nature but far less dark than a lot of books out there. This author credited Pepper Winters for dark-read advice and that's a great comparison. It' ...more

Eww... this book has its dark and sick moment. At least for the first quarter and the cliffhanger in the end. The middle part seems to be more pleasant. There are some scene that is just gag worthy. Even though I can be freaky, but there are some lines that can't be cross. One of them is no playing with food.

I'm sorry for all the big 5 Star reviews but...
this was just ...gah it was beyond annoying

It was...i just couldn't connect with the victim and...i should
i should feel fear...i didn't
and this is what dark means to me...
i need to feel it.
here, i just wanted to slap everyone in this book for stupid conversations (sorry)
and for not acting properly in almost every (this should be dark but it kinda isn't) situation!!!

Wow!! Just wow!! Yes this is a dark read with some disturbing elements but it was also so much more!! It's a great story and I can't wait for the next book. So many questions??

I hate Gabe. He's a living nightmare!! I have some theories about Baylee's dad so wondering if I'm right. I'm wondering Warrens dad plays a big part in book 2 since his name is Loveland and the next book Is called...This is Love, Baby.

I was beyond unsettled during the first part of This is War, Baby to the extent I considered giving up and not finishing it. Before I began, I was aware the beginning would test my resolve and it didn’t take long to wade into my red zone of discomfort. Several times I shut my Kindle, only to open it again because I was told the story would turn around. It has been two days since I finished and it’s only now that I have been able to muster my thoughts into order.

True to the warning, this is dark, twisted and will mess with your head. You will love and hate. Be turned on a disgusted.. K Webster delivers on the first book in the War and Peace series. It was emotional roller coaster ride that left me breathless and in need of oxygen. I read this book in one sitting and immediately devoured the next 2 in the series in the same weekend.

The depth of Baylee's pain is beyond comprehension. Gabe's betrayals and Warren's misplaced love will leave you begging for ...more

Hearts, flowers, long walks on the beach, staring into each other’s eyes. **HELL NO!! NOT IN THIS BOOK! HEED THE WARNING THE AUTHOR WROTE ABOUT THIS BOOK.** Every turn of the page, I was thinking, “Oh no she didn’t”, and KWeb certainly f$%^ing did! This author has hit her stride writing these dark erotic reads. I was on the edge of my seat for most of this read. I can’t even!!

The twists and turns in the plot jerked me and pulled me in deeper. Like, “crazy don’t even look at me while I’m reading” Hearts, flowers, long walks on the beach, staring into each other’s eyes. **HELL NO!! NOT IN THIS BOOK! HEED THE WARNING THE AUTHOR WROTE ABOUT THIS BOOK.** Every turn of the page, I was thinking, “Oh no she didn’t”, and KWeb certainly f$%^ing did! This is a raw, gritty, painful, traumatic story, but there is also something that builds and made me appreciate the suffering. Despite it all I kept looking for hope and like bread crumbs leading me to the end of this book K.Web left a trail of them for me to gobble up. It made the sweet (there are a few moments like that) that much sweeter. I won’t kid you there is a lot of evil and suffering in Baylee’s story, but I was grateful for those few moments of vulnerability that showed the survivor inside of her.

I can’t begin to explain this cast that K. Webster has brought together. Gabe, (who is evil incarnate), Baylee’s parents, Land, and so many more including the two characters that I grew quite fond of, Baylee and War. I felt pushed to my boundaries and every time I turned a page it was for Baylee. I felt every emotion, the bad the good, the gut wrenchingly awful ones, the fear, and the hopelessness. All of it!

And War!! OHMYF#$%INGGOD! WAR! His nickname says it all. Every battle with those inner demons that threaten to pull him under, I mean WOW. I have never read a more f#$%ed up character, but I wanted to know every wound that was part of his mind. These two meet under such dire circumstances for them both, but they melded together in the most imperfectly perfect way.

This book will hold you by your throat and rob you of every breath you take from the prologue to the very end. K. Webster takes you to the darkest parts of your mind and pushes you over the edge. The lines of right and wrong are obliterated, and are irrevocably changed after reading this story. There are stories that stick with you for a variety of reasons and this one is by far a book I will not ever forget. I am forever changed by Baylee. I want more, need more, crave it like the twelve to eighteen breaths I take per minute.
