95766 I've loved Sarah Dessen ever since her very first book came out, but lately it's starting to seem like she keeps writing the same book over and over again. I wish she'd write another really good drama like "Dreamland" instead of rehashing the same tired rom-com plot for the 5th time.

95766 Oh man, when I was younger, I had a HUGE crush on Sara Stanley from Lucy Maud Montgomery's "The Story Girl." Our library copy included both "The Story Girl" and its sequel, plus another short story, so it was about 600 pages long and I checked it out every other month or so. I also wanted a Ducky from the "California Diaries" BSC spin-off of my very own.

95766 I'm in an American Studies program and my specialty is pop culture/media studies. I've written papers about Superman comics, the Watchmen graphic novel, masculinity in the Supernatural TV series & its fanfiction (which I presented at the National Popular Culture/American Culture Assn. conference in San Antonio in 2010), and an anthropological study of Supernatural fan conventions that was cited in a real academic text (I'd link it, but I'm using the iPhone app, which doesn't let me).

My undergrad degree is in English lit, and I once turned in the opening chapter of a modernized lesbian version of Pride & Prejudice (I made Darcy a girl) for a class assignment. ;)

95766 Thanks! I have two stories I'm trying to revise for publication (one YA), plus an outline for another YA novel, so I appreciate the recommendation. :)

95766 Hi, I'm Amanda and I've been obsessed with YA since I was five and I'd sneak behind the library stacks with the Sweet Valley High books I was forbidden from checking out. In high school I started volunteering at that library and eventually started a YA summer reading program. Now I'm hoping to write and publish a YA novel of my own as soon as I finish grad school.
