BookSwap (3 new)

95766 I was thinking of creating a group on FaceBook where people can trade, swap, or sell their books. Who all would be interested? PayPal would be required---unless there is a different form of payment I don't know of.

If you're interested let me know.

You want to do a poll on the books they nominate?
Jan 06, 2015 12:22PM

95766 Sign up in this thread. Put your name and a link to your to-read shelf. On the 1st of September everyone will be will be paired up randomly. Once you have your partner you choose a book for them from their shelf. Your partner will read this book, and you will read the book your partner chose for you. (if your account is private please remember to add your partner as your friend on Goodreads ASAP)

If you want, you may choose two books from your partner's to-read shelf, and they can try and read both or pick the one they prefer.

Rules:

2. If you do not want the book picked from your to-read shelf, please provide a link to the one you would rather choose.
3. We will not be adding people after the 1st.
4. Partners will be picked on the 1st of February. You should have your picks for your partner by the 3rd of February.

95766 I've been away from Goodreads a while and I was wondering if any of you could tell me about some new books that have come out or some old great books I should pick up?

Any genre (except for Science Fiction) is good. Please leave the name of the book and the genre that it is from. Thanks in advance.!

95766 I have a lot of things coming up soon (buddy reads, BOM discussions and whatnot.) I need a way to categorize all of the dates ... I was wondering if any of you have some suggestions?

What do you use to keep track of everything you have going on?

I agree. I feel like consumers aren't picking up the books because they aren't being broadcasted like the rest of the authors are. I feel like everyone should have a hand in working out a solution to this problem.

Thanks for responding. How do you think the media and consumers can help find a solution for this problem?

95766 There has been a lot of talk about people reading diversely and only reading white female authors. I would like to know y'alls personal opinion on this. I would also like to open it up further and ask: Do you only read one particular genre or does that vary as well?

So the questions are:

1. Do you read authors of different races/nationalities/ethnicities?
2. If you do, is it a conscious effort? (Do you force yourself to do it?)
3. Do you think that this issue is a big deal?
4. Do you read a variety of genres?
5. If not, why not?

I hope that these questions can open up the floor for this conversation. I think that it is a very interesting topic.
Pressure/ DNF (13 new)

95766 Do you ever feel pressured to finish a book once you start it? What about if you don't like it? Are there certain requirements that makes you HAVE to finish a book?

---I personally do not like stopping a book. It makes me feel really bad because I believe that all books have the potential to be great. Although, I have DNF'd a couple of books, I don't like to make it a habit.
