Okay I finished Legendary and will be starting Finale soon! I didn't mind Legendary, there were some things I liked and disliked but overall, it was a pretty decent book. My favourite character had to be Jacks. He was amazing to read about and I loved every interaction with him. In regards to
(view spoiler)[Dante and Tella (hide spoiler)] I kind of was expecting more chemistry between them if I'm being honest. I also expected more page time for Julian and Scarlett or at least for them to be more central to the plot than they were so that slightly disappointed me too. I did like how Tella's characterisation developed and we finally understood her reasoning behind a lot of her actions.
Eileen wrote: "Well, and the big question is who is Legend REALLY?"Exactly! Honestly I feel like we'll only find out in book three

I absolutely loved this book! I breezed through this quite quickly. My favourite part had to be at the start
(view spoiler)[maybe around 110 pages in when Wes is revealed to be Prince Corrick! I absolutely love when hidden/secret identities are revealed and it gave so many layers to Corrick and his actions later on. I loved it! (hide spoiler)] Another thing I really enjoyed was the morally grey political world. It showed the complexities of politics and I really enjoyed that angle the book taken.

I do think that Dante and Tella are supposed to end up together, but I'm hoping that if/when it happens, we'll al..."Exactly! I mean there are some things that I'm like Why?? about specifically in relation to a lot of Tella's and Jacks's actions. Some of the things Jacks has done particularly with
(view spoiler)[kissing Tella and as a result, marking her with a slow death (hide spoiler)] makes me really want to understand what his reasoning is. There has to be some ulterior motive to doing that. I think the bigger picture, much like in Caraval, will be revealed at the end.

Okay so I just started Legendary and I kind of got a bit lost in it, read quite a bit and am now on page 170 😅. So far, we've met Jacks, Scarlett discovered a huge secret and Caraval has just started.
I absolutely love Jacks even though he's very much morally grey and if I didn't know about Once Upon a Broken Heart, I would've definitely believed him and Tella would end up as a couple.
I am really enjoying this book though. More so than Caraval actually and I think it has so much more world-building than book one with talk of the Fates, Legend's becoming and the fated objects not to mention what really happened to Paloma Dragna. I'm so excited to read on to find out more!
I also think you're right with Tella and how we really get to see her as a deeper character than was shown in Caraval. I think Stephanie Garber was right in using her perspective to narrate book two. I can see why she has done all those things before and I can understand her intentions better. I really want to see what happens with her and Dante though, I think they would end up together.

Eileen wrote: "No hurries! I just started the Codex Alera series, which is freaking long (6 books, from 500+ to 700+ pages), so it'll be awhile, ha ha!"Ahaha no worries and thank you for understanding ☺️

I'm trying to finish Belladonna now but I'm hoping Legendary will be my next read sorry for taking forever 😅
Eileen wrote: "Finally starting this book back up (I'm at the 50% mark) but will still go slowly through it since I want to finish the Backman Beartown trilogy. The first book was fantastic, but I haven't heard a..."Oooh yay! I'm finishing an ARC at the moment but if all goes well I should be done tonight so that I can start Legendary.

Those are similar to my thoughts as well. I wanted more about Legend apart from bitter magician and I couldn't help but feel annoyed about Tella too. I'll be interested to read her character arc further.

Just finished Caraval! A lot of my opinions have changed:
-I saw a lot of the plot twists coming so nothing really surprised me but I did love the writing style and the world building.
-I thought it was very descriptive.
-I liked Scarlett and Julian but my opinion of Tella never really changed since the start of the book.
-Also, Legend seemed very stereotypical as a villain... I felt like his personality didn't shine through in this book but I've heard he's a massive focus in book two so I'm excited to read on and find more about him.
Eileen wrote: "By the way, Sylvs, have you read The Tales of Verania? If you're a fan of his Extraordinaries series, Tales of Verania is fantastic, especially the audiobook. Be warned that it's meant for an adult..."Ooooh you sold me from just the mention of the Extraordinaries 😂
