So I'm a third of the way through and uncomfortable is the right word for it! Enchanted is an interesting character, but I'm not so sure I like her at the beginning. I mean, I get it, and I can already see how she's being manipulated by Korey, but she's really mean/ungrateful to her parents and sibs. Or maybe selfish is a better word?

I hope so too! I really did enjoy it although it's been a while. I'm looking forward to the second one which I'm hoping to read in early September.

I loved The Magnolia Sword and The Invention of Hugo Cabret (we have three of the Brian Selznick books in hard cover), but I just downloaded Ziggy and Music from my library and will add it to my list. I do love YA and I can thank Goodreads for turning me onto the genre in the first place, but I love Fantasy of any age. For Historical fiction, I recently read (well one of them was a reread) This Tender Land and In the Wild Light and I loved them both! In the Wild Light is also YA, so you may enjoy that more, but I really loved them both.
Just saw this thread and thought I should introduce myself. I'm an ENFP married to an INTJ and I've been officially on Goodreads since June 2008 but I didn't really start keeping track of books until 2018 after I rediscovered my love of books. My favorite genres were probably fantasy/science fiction and mystery, but it has now expanded to include a healthy dose of historical fiction. Bonus points if it's historical fiction and mystery like the Laurie R. King Mary Russell books. I enjoy both Fantasy and Science Fiction, but I lean more towards Fantasy. I have also grown to love many middle school and young adult fiction (especially sad realistic fiction), although because of the plethora of choices, I'm starting to become a bit more selective. But seriously, if someone recommends any book in either category, I am willing to give it a try! Also because of Goodreads, I have discovered books I really enjoy that are Noir, Westerns, Memoirs, Humor, and a lot more classics than I ever thought I'd enjoy. Steinbeck may be one of my favorite classic novelists as I have yet to read a book by him that I didn't enjoy, but I'm always discovered new classics that I can't believe I never read. I'm probably older than most of you here (50) but the best thing about books is that they are there for all to enjoy! I have a category on my profile set for "favorites" and as you can see, there's quite a variety!
