88432 I'm now on to Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine (for the group read), The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (group read in another group I'm part of, and a re-read for me), and slowly working through Game of Thrones

88432 My big issue with it was the portrayal of mental health. Being on medication was seen as "bad" and a "failure". I'm very against that take on managing mental health. I'm on medication for anxiety and depression. I really hate books that preach the whole "just be happy and get over it" shtick.

It also really had nothing to do with a library....lol. Just wasn't at all what I was expecting it to be.

88432 On that note. Midnight Library.....wow what a letdown.

2 stars.

88432 I think Diana updates our official SS on the weekend which is why our number on there is lower. I've just been looking at our real number score and then comparing it on the rankings. Last I saw we were in 6th. However I did just add one of our colored cards to the tracking sheet

88432 Omg I'm excited to see what you think. Again, I love true crime although I find many in that genre to be rather dense to read. This one was not. I have the audio version which was narrated by the author as well (aside from the last bit, since again she passed away)

88432 Ah! Alissa I LOVED I'll Be Gone in the Dark!! I love true crime. So sad that she died before they ended up catching the Golden State Killer

88432 Andy, I would wait to see if you could wait till March to read (or finish) your copy!! It works as a blue cover and so far I've counted 5 different cards it can work for. If we get a blue card in March we may be able to use it!!

88432 Awe darn. I had wanted to read that!! Sorry to hear it was average. I'll probably still give it a go

88432 I think I just didn't care about Snow and didn't find him to be an interesting character for a book. There were parts of the book I liked (background details about how the Hunger Games originally started and stuff like that)

88432 LOL I feel bad for griping. I just checked and saw that like..half of our team rated it 4/5 stars.

But alas, that is the fun of reading. Not everyone likes the same thing. And I will be dropping my rating to 2 stars after this go-around lol. I swear it's worse everytime I read it smh. Katniss deserved better.

88432 Also.....I really hate Mockingjay. The series just got worse and worse after The Hunger Games (A 5 star book in my opinion). Her new book was awful (songbirds and snakes). I just did not care about Snow or his back story. it didn't change or add anything to the overall story of Panem for me. And I didn't feel bad for him. Snow was Snow. And he was boring. That book was boring. It went on and on and on and on. I couldn't wait for it to end

That being said...Mockingjay is just....boring. Idk. And poor Primrose. Poor Finnick. Poor Gale. Just ruined all the good characters and basically forced Katniss to have this mediocre ass life with Peeta. Ugh sorry. I have many opinions about this series lol.

88432 I'm now on to my next 2 color books for us:

Mockingjay and The Midnight Library (which I have waited since November to read!!! I'm so excited)

88432 Andy what were your thoughts on The Nickel Boys? I just finished that one this afternoon before work. I LOVED it!!! So good....in a sad kind of way. I seem to be drawn to books like that

88432 I LOVE Lord of the Flies!!!

I started the 3rd book in this nerdy series im reading. Kinda similar to a dungeon & dragons type of thing. I'm listening to it right now as I get my hair done lol!!
Feb 05, 2021 04:30PM

88432 They are MUCH better now!!! I can say that for sure. It's never easy doing that part of my job, but they were in such an unsafe environment....I have no sadness or regrets about today
