Now that you all have the hang of the game, we are ready to turn things up a notch in March!

For those that played last year you may remember that each month we increase the number of hands. So for March you have Fourteen hands.

We have also added in an extra element for March.
As UNO number cards are coloured Blue, Green, Red and Yellow, we have added eight new cards to each team that have a colour attached. So, for example, rather than receiving card "7", you may see it says " 7 Green". This means you need to find a book that not only matches the criteria for 7, but also has a colour cover of green (the cover should be more than 50% green - use this colour extrator tool to determine colours if you are unsure).

As these are very special cards they are worth 30 points. You will find 1 of these cards in hands 2,4,6,8,10,12 and and 2 more in your last hand. Think of it as an incentive to finish all those books! :)

Your spreadsheets have been updated.

Click here for a Countdown to the start of March.

Main cities, FYI:
Sydney: 7pm, 1st March
Tokyo: 5pm, 1st March
London: 8am, 1st March
New York: 3am, 1st March
San Francisco: Midnight, 1st March

88432 Natalie wrote: "For "Read up to fifteen books your valentine team has read that was first published in Feb of any year for 5 points each" does there need to be a read date? Or is being on the shelf good enough?"

It doesn't need a read date (as I know some people don't always add them), but needs to be on their read shelf

Tip:
If you want to know a way to find books for this part here is what I do, but you may know of another way you can share?

- Go to the person's profile
- Click "compare books"
- On the right hand side of this page up the top are shelves. Change "your shelves" to "to-read" and "their shelves" to "read"
- Then you get (probably a short) list of books that are on your TBR that they have read. Then I just click into each book to check the "first published" date
:)

You can also use this link:
https://www.goodreads.com/user/compar...
And in your URL where it has the user number (in this case it is mine, 52624155), change that to the user your are looking at. So for our mod, Karen, her user name is 8460201-karen, so you would swap out the 52624155 in that URL for 8460201

What do we do if they Added it in Feb, but Read it in Sept? Can we still use it or does read override add?"

Yes that would count as it can be either added or read in Feb of any year

Absolutely!

Not for that reason, but Ilona Gordon has a famous author friend.....

I think if they are married then that would be a different task (i.e. "Read a book where the author is married to another author"). We are more looking at a friendship here, so I would say no to the marriage

That's fine.
There is usually some kind of blog post from an author, or a dedication in a book, or even other bloggers commenting on their friendship

Emperor needs to fit the definition of:
"An emperor is a monarch, usually the sovereign ruler of an empire or another type of imperial realm"
We're ok with title variations provided the meaning is the same

Character in jail, we want an actual jail cell. Time frame doesn't matter

Are series substitutions allowed? Say our Valentine has read #6 in a series but we are only on #3, or vice versa?"

No, sorry

88432 We've had questions about:

Read a book your valentine team has read in Feb or added in Feb of any year

To give more flexibility, we will allow the book to be on any shelf (not just the read shelf) provided the "added" date is in Feb of any year

@ Tammie: The same rules apply as per the original UNO game; so no, more than one person can not read the same book for the mini challenge."

2 people can read the same book, but it needs to fit different tasks (at least for part 2, it can fit within the same for part 1 - provided you haven't exceeded the book limit for that task)

❤ It would be nice for you to post in your Valentine's team thread to let your valentine know what you are doing (but this is not compulsory)."

It means that we love teams interacting with each other and that if you want to you can post something about which books you've chosen and if you like them and so on. Or just something in general :)
