88432 I just added my last three books (hope it's not too late!). Thanks for a great game Lexi and everyone! Looking forward to next year.

88432 Just added three books to the spreadsheet that I have finished in April so far:
-The Ballerinas by Rachel Kapelke-Dale
-Mouth to Mouth by Antoine Wilson
-Chronicles from the Land of the Happiest People on Earth by Wole Soyinka

I'm having a little bit of trouble following what is and isn't needed. I hope what I'm reading is helpful though (I'm a bit slower of a reader than a lot of you, really admire your reading speeds!!)

88432 I logged it a few days ago, but just wanted to make a quick plug for Matrix by Lauren Groff. A fantastic book. It fills in the life of Marie de France, a writer, and possibly a nun, from the 12th century. In this case, Groff makes her an abbess and imagines her life leading an abbey as a woman who will not be restricted by social or religious mores and wants to protect (and, to some extent, empower) her order at all costs. Incredibly original writing. It struck me at the end that I don't think a single male character is named in the book, while most of the women are, which I can't imagine was an accident.

88432 Hello! I am so sorry for not posting, moving house got a little complicated last week! I will definitely have the blue cover book read by end of month, and will have two others done as well, including Wolf Hall. I will remove my other ideas from the spreadsheet ASAP.

88432 Finished my second book today, The Waves by Virginia Woolf. It was my first time reading it, though I have read most others by her. It is very unusual in that it switches between six different stream of consciousness voices, and it's not always clear who is speaking/thinking until well into certain passages. At times, it reads more like poetry than prose, but it definitely held my attention. You can just feel the compassion and sometimes disgust for humanity coursing through each phrase, and she certainly describes nature unlike any other writer I have encountered. The style left me wondering if it was really about six different people or six different facets of one person. Definitely recommend.

88432 Finally finished my first book, Flights by Olga Tocarczuk!

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Overall, would recommend. It has a lot of interesting meditations on travel, the human body, aging, and tricks the mind can play at any stage of life. It is not a quick read, but is composed of about 130 vignettes, ranging from half a page to 35 pages, so can be a nice book to dip in and out of and meditate on.

I promise I will be much faster with the other books. :)

88432 Ah, okay, thank you! I have read the instructions a few times, but am still a little confused about how we move through the hands. We have to finish each one before moving on to the next, right? Just want to make sure I order and structure reading correctly to contribute the best I can. Thanks!

88432 Do the hands for February come out all at one time on February 1?

88432 Gotcha, thanks for clarifying that. I can do Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff then, I think that one works.

88432 I can take the Blue 4 Color Card, if needed with The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz. The jacket is blue and the main character is called Jacob Finch Bonner according to the blurb. Does that work? (Apologies if I got it wrong, still trying to understand the rules a bit).

Some of my recent favorite reads have been:

-The Gloaming - Melanie Finn
-A Children's Bible - Lydia Millet
-What Happens at Night - Peter Cameron
-The Glass Kingdom - Lawrence Osborne
-Real Life - Brandon Taylor
-Long Bright River - Liz Moore
-The Society of Reluctant Dreamers - Jose Eduardo Agualusa
