84913 I finished yesterday and now I am questioning the new intro about the actors meeting up to rehearse the movie. I assumed that was true as well but now I'm guessing it probably isn't. Also I am fully realising how the movie pales in comparison as there isn't really any reference to Morgenstern from what I recall so that satirical level is completely missing.

As for Buttercups baby I found the possession thing a bit weird but loved it otherwise. Sorry I haven't asked questions this whole time I still think the discussion has been great.

Who's everyone's favourite character?
84913 I love that so much, Nicole! I think I would want to read it twice because it would feel like a different book. Genius indeed. Also Florin isn't even a place but he had me convinced it was.
84913 So having started Buttercups Baby I got to the most important six words and was laughing for a good thirty seconds. I was thinking maybe the page difference is some books don't have Buttercups Baby since it seems to have been written after the movie came out
84913 Completely agree! So very clever.
84913 Princess Bride wise, how are people feeling about Buttercup? I am trying to reserve judgement till the end, but am feeling rather the opposite to she was a brat at the start then gets better. I think she seemed to be confident which she is through the whole book and happy being herself which I liked then once she decides she loves Westley she's just a pretty face. I like that Westley is so loyal but I don't get why he would care about herm Also I find the part before she knows he is Westley puzzling in I think his treatment of her is unacceptable.
84913 I can't get Silent Gondoliera either. I don't read electronic versions.
84913 I love finding out the details about Inigo and Fezzik's past poor guys.
84913 I have gone done a rabbit hole and found what you would get if you wrote in to the address. https://www.hmhco.com/~/media/sites/p...
84913 I love that we have a combination of people who have either read the book multiple times or not at all. I am reading it slightly slowly as I have a beast of a Sanderson that I am nearly finished with, but as Princess Bride is much easier to carry to work it makes for fantastic lunch reading. And in fact I am loving it. I am a sucker for a humourous footnote and can already tell though I have only finished a chapter that I am going to love it so much. So the Bride: I find myself both loving Buttercup and finding her annoying. I love that she just wants to be free and ride her horse, I love that she doesn't care what she looks like (until she does for Westley) but I find it frustrating that she is kinda just a pretty face. This may change as the book progresses but she certainly isn't the brightest. I also do like as you said Cheryl it's about what is love and that's already apparent with her parents who bicker all the time but still love each other and Westley saying 'As you wish' really meant I love you.
84913 I have read all THIRTY pages of the into and on looking at his Wiki page about 90% seems to be made up. I absolutely love that! Despite the length I did enjoy it. I found his fake wife highly amusing.
84913 Gem you are amazing, thank you! I was pretty sure that was the case. I believe it's all very tounge in cheek.
I also have not read it but am very much looking forward to to leading the discussion. Out of curiousity has anyone not watched the film?

84913 Right finished did skip quite a few days for chapters but thought we would finish it today. River and I both found it a very odd story. They certainly got married at a very young age but maybe it's just showing how some girls dream of getting married and living in a fantasy world...

84913 I think godparents in this form are still very common in Europe. Every baptism in church over here often in has two or three godparents, very rarely are they intended guardians but quite often are meant to be good influences. Tim said he usually would see his godparents on his birthday when they would give him a gift but not very often otherwise.

84913 A sister has finally been mentioned. Very much in an off hand way no idea how old she might be.

84913 Cheryl, I work at a book store and have for 12 years. Quite often parents are completely oblivious to the content books have and are very appreciative I me letting them know. More on topic, I have definitely gotten to the weird part of the Nutcracker. Seriously searching 15 years for a nut and after all that work solving the problem they are exiled because he's an ugly nutcracker?!

84913 I'm kinda glad you aren't liking it, Mom, because I was feeling guilty not buying it since I couldn't find it in the library. We have Sarah J Mass's Throne of Glass series in teen and her other one recently changed to adult. but she says the TOG is supposed to be teen. We do put not suitable for younger readers stickers on them. But honestly half the teen books these days are like that. Tick Tock is also horrible because they are all coming in for Colleen Hoover which is the next 50 Shades of Grey and we aren't allowed to stop them from buying it. I am just happy when they come in with an adult so I can say hey you might not want to let them read that.

84913 I read the first chapter a loud to my daughter this morning. I think I will do this every day since they are short chapters and if I miss some days can still fit it in before Christmas. the copy I got from the library has historical information and other interesting facts on the side which is quite nice. Today it mentioned that the town Nuremberg is famous for it's clocks, watchs, and clockwork toys.
84913 I can't get it through the library and toyed with buying it but every single review on my company's website is one star so that has put me off a bit https://www.waterstones.com/book/disn... surprised to see it's going down so well with everyone so far.
