84727 Sorry guys! I waited so long to post this, but taking suggestions for upcoming book club book! I think I'm going to suggest this one, just because it looks like SO much fun and since we are all geeks here, we can appreciate the content and have MASSIVELY awesome discussions. I may even buy the jinx.com shirt because of this book :-) It is called "The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia".

84727 Woooooo! April 30th it is :-).... Sorry for the late response. I have been traveling and visiting with family and have not have access to the Internet.

84727 It is a rather long book. I'll be traveling for the next month and a half, so I may need more time too. Anyone else want an extension for the reading? Extend it to April 30th?

84727 I think I may start fixing the dates to a certain day of the reading period (example: discussions will always take place the Saturday of or after the reading is completed). That will make it easier to remember I think. The books go in 2 month periods. February 1st - March 31st , next book will start April 1st and go through May 31, and so on.

84727 The first book was the Long Earth and we are now reading the Name of the Wind.

84727 How did everyone feel about the Google Group discussion?
Feb 02, 2013 06:53PM

84727 I approved the membership. I was a little late to the discussion because of feeding the baby :-)

84727 It seems like meeting in a forum for the discussion would be the preferred method. So, Saturday in the Google Group (or here?) 8:00pm central?
Jan 24, 2013 01:31AM

84727 So, it's that time; time to decide when we should have our book discussion and in what form we should conduct it in. I was thinking that Friday, February 1st- Saturday, February 2nd would be good days. Let me know what you all think :-)

84727 Ok... I am going to add "A Short Stay in Hell" and "First Confessor" to the poll and I am going to reset the votes so everyone can choose which one they like best.

84727 I'm going to suggest a book my very good friend Matthew Mote sent to me. I haven't had the heart to read it all the way, but I think I'm ready now. It is called The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.

84727 I've been trying to keep up with the reading, but find myself neglecting it day after day, so I've decided that I am going to read the book aloud to the baby. It's not exactly a soothing nursery rhyme, but perhaps it will work out okay. We'll see how far I get tomorrow.

84727 Since there aren't too many of us I think we can probably start suggesting books whenever we want :-). I'm curious now what you want to read next.

84727 Sorry guys! I derped on the Book Club discussion today. :-( Anyone interested in one in the future? Maybe one at the end of the reading period instead that way we will all be on the same page (literally)?

84727 How is everyone liking the book? I'm still only in the first third of the book, but I am enjoying it a lot!
Dec 01, 2012 02:58PM

84727 Not often am I hooked into a book by the first few pages, but wow, I'm hooked for sure!
Dec 01, 2012 03:10AM

84727 Yay! Time to start reading our first book. The Long Earth by Terry Pratchett won the poll.

84727 I had someone suggest to me that we use Google Groups instead of Google Hangout, so I thought I'd create a group and get feedback on which format you guys want the book club discussions to be executed in. Here is the link to the Google Group: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!for...

84727 Go vote for the book you want to read :-D. Poll is open today through the 31st. We will commence reading on December 1st. Happy voting!
