834701 I need to follow this. I have a bunch on my list but haven't actually read any except Valley of Vision.

Thanks for starting this! I'm starting my wish list for 2019 and I look forward to seeing what everyone suggests. Here's my bests for 2018:

Best fiction:
Last Train to Istanbul by Ayşe Kulin This novel is translated from Turkish and is an excellent addition to the conversation about the Holocaust. We hear the Western perspective often. This book adds a needed Middle Eastern voice.

A Portrait of Emily Price by Katherine Reay I needed this book. It isn't brilliant but it was the fun light story I was desperate for.

Best Nonfiction:
Because He Loves Me How Christ Transforms Our Daily Life by Elyse M. Fitzpatrick The gospel on every page! I'll be reading more of Fitzpatrick. Identity is a hot topic right now in the larger culture as well as in my small circle. This book sends you right back to Christ as the root of who we are.
