82245 If you use the formatting guide for Smashwords as the upload file for Amazon, it generally works extremely well. A lot of the tips and requirements that Smashwords needs for its translation carry over to Amazon's KDP.

I used to write my Amazon files as straight-up HTML, but it got old quickly.
82245 After about a year, I'm extremely disappointed in Smashwords. That services composes a very small percentage of my sales itself. The only good news there is its affiliate, Kobo, which sells far better than Smashwords itself.

Still doesn't match Amazon, though. The majority of my sales easily come from there, and I do very little advertising.

82245 Thanks for the invite. I've been dabbling with KDP for some time now. I have a background in web development and programming, so KDP is nearly second-nature.

I've messed around a little bit with CreateSpace thanks to the freebies Nanowrimo offers, but nothing too serious. At least, not yet. They offer far more competitive pricing now, so that may change for me soon.
