Hi Charles, thank you for your time to respond. Thanks for the Howard tip. I just watched Conan theDestroyer today as a matter of fact, and I got to composing this thread. I am unaware of the "adulterated" editions....how would I know? I will look for the recent Del Rey editions...also thx for the women writer tip...I look forward to checking CL Moore out....as well as Leiber. Thanks again.

I am looking for classic, stand alone novels (or first of a series) that are short or not too long (200-300ish pages).....Primers that defined the genre.
I would love to hear about some generic, pulp titles that I could find in a used book shop.
