80482 Web Anthologies:
Fletcher's ongoing reviews of Heroic Fantasy Quarterly (Blackgate) remind us that Sword & Sorcery anthologies have web formats too.

Anyone here follow Heroic Fantasy Quarterly?

Heroic Fantasy Quarterly is an ezine dedicated to publishing short works of heroic fantasy. More than that, through both prose and poetry we hope to hearken an older age of storytelling – an age when a story well told enthralled audiences. Traits of great oral storytelling survive the ages to influence treasures of literature, the pulps, radio plays, late-night game sessions, and now Heroic Fantasy Quarterly.

(2) Audio Book: Audio Book - Heroika Dragon Eaters sample (read by Rob Goll). Perseid Press has offered a limited number of free audio books via Audible.com. If interested, just message me and I'll ensure you get a coupon code.

I'm biased toward liking this one since I contributed a story. It covers 17 perspectives on killing dragons across time, from ancient history through the civil war in North America.

The Mammoth Book of Fantasy All-time Greats looks like a fine collection. Masque of the Red Death is my favorite Poe story--all its references to color appealed to me. .I need to add Lord Dunsany to the "group read" list/polls again; his The King of Elfland's Daughter was nominated before but didn't rise to the top. 80482 This Jan-Feb I plan to read a couple of anthologies... but before then I am trying to squeeze in a non-S&S book, Immortal Muse by Stephen Leigh which is mix of historical and contemporary fantasy based on alchemy and art.

80482 Sword and Sorceress 31
Submission window: April 16, 2016 thru Friday, May 13, 2016.

"The reading period for Sword and Sorceress 31 starts on Saturday, April 16, 2016. See http://mzbworks.com/guidelines.htm. Note that when we say we will delete stories received before then, we mean it. The reading period starts right after April 15th because the editor volunteers at a tax-preparation site until then and does not have the energy to work on the anthology at the same time. The deadline is Friday, May 13, 2016. If you are submitting, please read the guidelines carefully before hitting send."

Glad you enjoyed that Jack. I first "discovered" The Broken Sword by reading Michael Moorcock's review it in Wizardry and Wild Romance: A Study of Epic Fantasy (originally published in the Guardian). That sent me on a search for the book. I ended up getting the author's cut version which has some subtle differences.

Blackgate did a nice review of the comparisons:

80482 I've been getting sucked into Kickstarter board games with RPG elements. They also have a lot of RPG games/scenarios. I wonder if any folks here are into that.

I've got Zombicide Plague Edition coming soon!
