78820 Chapter 6 - I'm getting scared - I did dumb shit like this too while travelling.
Sep 29, 2013 12:57PM

78820 Wow - are you seeing her speak?? That's incredible! I'm 2 chapters in (I know, I started early) and its already heart breaking.
Sep 28, 2013 05:49PM

78820 I believe you have 176 books to put on your kobo! Mwahaha!!
Sep 28, 2013 09:46AM

78820 And October's talk is prepped!
Sep 21, 2013 07:40AM

78820 Lmao - that's totally it! I was left feeling completely unfulfilled by it. Gigantic time jump and then bam! one of them's dead - not cool.
Sep 20, 2013 09:57AM

78820 Me neither - maybe I'm naive, but I wanted them all to be together. Happily ever after and all that garbage. This is probably more realistic - but it's not what I wanted to read. Lol. I clearly need to read a romance novel or something.

78820 But Alice is only annoying in other people's perception of her. Don't you think? Like we rarely got to hear from Alice herself - we only heard other people's opinions of her.

And I really wanted Frances to be alive. Really, really badly. I'm telling myself she is at least. Haha.
Sep 12, 2013 05:55PM

78820 I just finished it and I have to say I'm left unfulfilled by the ending. Disappointed in fact. About Frances - I didn't want that to be true.

Tell me when you finish lyndsay so I don't have to be so cryptic.
Sep 09, 2013 11:54AM

78820 Haha - even with working you might catch up to me then. God damn you and your speediness. Although, in John's defense - OUAT is extremely important. I know I couldn't live without it! 20 days!!

How're you feeling about Alice Lyndsay? I feel so bad about that. I hope you know what I'm talking about, lol.
Sep 08, 2013 05:06PM

78820 Lol! That's awesome Lee. I've never read any paid assassin books - at least none that spring to mind.

I seem to be getting into the thick of the plot of War Brides now - thank god. At 57% it seems a bit late for it to be beginning. (I'm trying to be cryptic as Lyndsay has been the lazy one this month).
Sep 07, 2013 10:01AM

78820 I guess teaching does that to you. I wouldn't really know. :P

Yeah! Can someone please be happy in this damn book? Geez. I get it's the war, but come on, not everyone has to be completely miserable. This is why I don't like most historical fiction - it's depressing. Angela's Ashes, The Other Boleyn Girl ... I prefer pretending everything was happy all the time - lol.
Sep 06, 2013 09:21AM

78820 Is it just me or is every chapter about a different woman?? Maybe that's the point. Lol. The version Lyndsay gave me did not have a description.
Sep 05, 2013 08:57AM

78820 You guys are killing me with your historical fiction. Lol.

I am enjoying it though. It's a bit confusing with all the different characters. Makes me feel like I'm reading Downton Abbey.

78820 So I'm once again obsessed with mysteries. So I thought that this would be appropriate.

One of the most famous detective board games is Clue/Cluedo made by Parker Brothers. This challenge will be based around the characters, weapons and rooms from the original game. The challenge will run for a year, until September 1, 2014. Books may only be used once for this challenge, so you'll be reading 22 books to complete the challenge.

Clue Characters:
Read a book where someone on the cover is wearing the same color clothes as the clue character. (ie a red dress, a green suit, etc. Outfit on cover does not have to be specifically a dress or suit, as long as the person on the cover is prodominately dressed in the color.) Read one book for each person.

Miss Scarlet (a red piece)
Colonel Mustard (a yellow piece)
Mrs. White (a white piece)
Mr. Green (a green piece)
Mrs. Peacock (a blue piece)
Professor Plum (a purple piece)

Weapons:
Read a book where either one of the following weapons is pictured on the cover, specifically named in the title, or was used to murder someone in the book. Read one book for each weapon.

Dagger/Knife
Candlestick
Revolver (any revolver or pistol)
Rope
Lead Pipe
Wrench/Spanner

Rooms:
Read a book with one the following rooms pictured on the cover, specifically named in the title, or featured prominately in the plot. The room doesn't have to be the main place the story takes place but if the characters just walk through the room once it isn't enough to count. If an entire scene takes place in the room, then it's enough to qualify.

Kitchen
Ballroom
Conservatory
Dining Room
Billard Room
Library
Study
Hall
Lounge
Cellar/Stairs (where the envelope with the solution was kept)

Good luck!

78820 I'm actually going to read this one. Sorry for sucking in August - I blame George RR Martin and the flu (that took me out for 2 weeks).
