I will quit when the reading gets immorally questionable (for me) or if I haven't been able to grasp the story (or care) within a few chapters. I have done my share of skimming, trying to hang onto a book that I should have given up on hours before!

I'd be interested in re-reading The Ultimate Hitchhikers Guide and continuing on with the series. I found that the local library seemed to carry them or I could order it in. Would you like to give that a go?

My first non-required monster book was The Stand and that started my love affair with Stephen King books during my 20s. I read Crime and Punishment a few years back and I still find myself thinking about it every so often. Amazing writing!
Les Miserables was last year's tackle and I loved it. Many parts made me cry. Now on my list is Gone with the Wind and a re-read of Tale of Two Cities.

How about:
1) Demise of a door-to-door solicitor
2) Female with a oyster-created piece of jewelry
3) Stealer of a paper-bound volume of words

I have read all of Jane Austen's, a couple of Charles Dickens (loved Tale of Two Cities), recently finished Les Mis (loved it!), Crime and Punishment (great!), and also like Alexander McCall Smith. One of my favorite books I read in the last couple of years is The Book Thief.
If I could have a super power, it would probably be flying so I wouldn't have to pay so much to fly home and see my family!
