And then Laura learns a shocking truth about the duke. He is not the man he appears to be.

Anthony, Duke of Wimberley is in London to find a wife for the second time. Seven years ago he had made a love match. He knows better now. 78394 Not So Sweet Maria (Sisters by Marriage Book 1) by Jessica Spencer
Not So Sweet Maria
Release Date: June 1, 2017.
This is a clean romance; squeaky clean would in fact be a more appropriate label.

Excerpt:
The straw bonnet was her latest creation. She had worn the bonnet and practiced that arch of the eyebrow in front of the mirror. It was in the nature of an experiment. Just like two chemicals combined in certain proportions resulted in an explosion, so it was with the bonnet and the flirtatious look.
Trimmed with green lace, decorated with poppies and ferns, the straw bonnet had a sweeping rim and wide red ribbons. The poppies and greens were cleverly wrought into an unusual posy and the bleached straw was woven into an intricate lacy pattern. But what made the bonnet so fetching was the angle at which she had placed the posy, and the ribbons clustered into a knot below her left ear.
When she arched her brow, the upward sweep of the bonnet made it more pronounced. A different bonnet would not have enhanced that small gesture. Really, if women understood the language of bonnets they would have all the men they wanted or, like in her case, turn down suitors without hurting their sentiments. She always knew which bonnet to wear when a suitor called with a marriage proposal.
There was a fortune to be made if she could take women into confidence and explain to them that they needed less gowns and more bonnets. They needed a bonnet for every occasion. She could not let it be known, however. The magic, the mystique would be lost. And if the men learnt they were being led by bonnet ribbons, the consequences would be disastrous.
So while she designed bonnets for women keeping in mind the shape of their face and the coloring, and gave them a list of colors they must wear with the bonnet, she used her secret knowledge only for herself.
The opportunity to send forth the flirtatious look had been unexpected but why had she grown confused? Drat that man! Who was he?

The Earl of Daventon believes love is a quagmire but falls in love with a mysterious young woman who dresses like a shop girl and behaves like a lady. He finds a remedy in accepting an arranged match with Lady Maria, whom he hasn’t seen.
