 I did not get the appeal to this book. I get that Bulgakov is trying to comment on the absurdity of the Russian political environment. In fact, I think he does this in a very clever way. However the other issues he tries to deal with did not work for me. The scenes with Woland and his retinue causing various dysfunction dragged on to the point where they lost their meaning to me.
