78394 I started Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick and Il conte di Montecristo by Alexandre Dumas . I'm not used to read two books at time, this is a unique case. For the book of Dumas, I saw the last two mini-series (one with Gerard Depardieu and the other with Jim Caviezel), but is the first time that I read book.

78394 I finished a couple of day ago Dr. Futurity, by Philip Dick and now I'm reading The Master and Margarita. These are two totally different genres, but both books are good.

However, one must admit that, compared to the novel, Irene Adler in TV and cinema has been transformed, as appropriate, to spy, double agent, high-class prostitute and so on.

78394 I' ve just finished to watch "A Scandal in Belgravia". In this first episode of the second season, there are more jokes between the two main actors, and funny situation that in previous season. I been striked by the character of "the woman", Irene Adler, that is of greater effect than book, more extreme, perhaps also to attract the attention of the public. I agree with Louise that the charcater of Irene was mismanaged: she was introduced as the "principal opponent" of Holmes, a straordinary woman, an opponent to his height. Insted, without make spoiler, going on in the episode she loses this role to became another defeated opponent.

But, are you watching all seasons for the third time?
I agree with you that one or more revisions are ideal for discover all particulars.

78394 I watched only the first season, but I like this transposition of Doyle's characters in modern day.
I read all Sherlock Holmes adventures, so I can evaluate the differences with books. I Also think that that Benedict Cumberbatch is perfect in the role of Holmes, snob and genial as the original

78394 1) Both have a dependency: House for Vicodin and Homes for cocaine

2) Both are Languid and lazy when there isn't a case (medical for House, criminal for Holmes)

3) Both have big deduction capacities, applied in diagnosis (House) and fighting crime (Holmes)

78394 For me, a case like this was moby Dick. It took me almost two years for read and I do not like it at all. I didn't wanted definitvely give up and I did some break meanwhile. Come to the last page, I welcomed the end with joy. I know that it is a classical novel, famous and appreciated, but I didn't like.

I remember the book and at the end I felt a little disappointed, because I expected a fantasy, and wasn't been so. The book was a mix of history, romance and adventure, not so bad, I arrived even at the end, but I did not like very.

78394 I don't like give up when I read a book. It's a question of principle, if you have began it, finish it. The last book that i have quit is Little Lord Fauntleroy, when I was ten (more or less). The only recent book that I almost quit is "Moby Dick", it didn't like me. After almost two years finally I finished it (this, 2-3 years ago).
