Well, first of I want to finish Ulysses before my classes start, then total focus to filmmaking books (I want to be a filmmaker) and the ones that the admission exam for my college asks.
Still reading Ulysses, already got used to Joyce's Stream of C and Paul's review has been really useful, but I need to reserve more time to read!

I couldn't care less reading about the characters while reading The Great Gatsby, though I liked Fitzgerald's prose and the themes he touches. Still, it is a realistc portrait of a generation, and I respect that.

For a long time it was romances (dont judge me!), murder mysteries/police procedurals, then historical fictions, and most recently urban fantasy. So I decide..."Nice, I love historical fiction! Have you ever read Ramses by Christian Jacq (Seen that he's not very popular here, maybe translation problems) or Allan Massie?
I have a regular Kindle, and I love it, it's really pratical. About the Fire, I don't know, didn't see anyone talking about it.

Well Meghana, I'd advise you to read them in portuguese, but I know most people don't have the spare time and interest to learn portuguese. I would recommend Machado de Assis books, the best known brazilian author, and one of the best. Also there is Graciliano Ramos, Aluísio Azevedo, Guimarães Rosa, Clarice Lispector... But from the start I'd recommend Machado.
I would recommend To Kill a Mockingbird. It has an appealing story, easy prose and interesting plot.
Hi everyone! I'm Eduardo and I'm going to the last year of high school here in Brazil. I live in the south part of Brazil, where is cold and far away from the stereotypes some people have, and from tropical paradises.
Well, I'm a big fan of Brazilian Literature, especially Realism, and now I'm going through some classics, and I'd love to know which ones I should start with. Reading Ulysses write now, not an easy book for sure!
I hope to see you guys at the forum
