In a (slightly) similar way, Cervantes wrote part 2 of Don Quixote in response to an unofficial sequel. In a pre-post-modern(!) twist, the characters refer and react to aspects of the unofficial book, in particular the consequences of the fame it has brought them!

A very faithful adaptation, but although I thought they were both very bleak, I saw hope and beauty that prevented either from being depressing.

78394 The book is subtler (some of the exposition in the film is rather heavy-handed), but the film is visually stunning, and it was often hard to believe the tiger was "only" CGI.
