75190 The final book in The Undermountain Saga!

75190 I'm thrilled that Afterlife (The Undermountain Saga, #2) by Eric Edstrom just won the July eBook Cover Design Award. The artist, Melvin De Voor, did such a wonderful job. Everyone loved his design for Undermountain (The Undermountain Saga, #1) by Eric Edstrom and he just knocked it out of the park for Afterlife.

His website is under construction right now, but you can see some of his illustration work on his deviant art profile at melvindevoor.deviantart.com

75190 Notice I did not include Catching Fire or Mockingjay.

THG is the book I had to star reading three times before I got far enough to love it. But once I did, I couldn't put it down. I made people read it. I said, "get The Hunger Games and read it."

Why? The concept is so perfectly contained. A nationally televised fight to the death event featuring teenagers. The concept of the book provides the structure for the book. I wish, wish, wish, wish, wish I had thought of it.

75190 The books that started an entire genre. I read them every few years. There is nothing quite like the sequence through Moria. And the Balrog!!!! ""From out of the shadow a red sword leapt flaming!"

"You shall not pass!"

75190 This needs no explanation. If you disagree, you are wrong.

75190 I picked up the first one afte reading one of Patrick O'brien's Aubrey/Maturin books. I really enjoy the world of the early 19th century British navy. Lots of excitement. In many ways the character of Horatio Hornblower provides a template for Ender from Ender's Game.

Many think these books are for adolescent boys. They couldn't be more wrong.

75190 I don't like movies or stories that make me upset. This is an exception. Heartbreaking and redeeming all at the same time.

This is probably the best book I won't ever read twice.

75190 Started reading this epic fantasy series a loooooong time a ago. Yes, it got a little slow around book 9 or 10. Then the author died :( :( :(

But now Brandon Sanderson is finishing it up, and he is doing an outstanding job. The books are just awesome and fast paced. The final volume should be out around January of 2013.

You need to give book one about 150 pages before deciding if you like it or not. But you will. Or else!

75190 I spent a lot of hours the past few days outlining. More than once I've discovered something about the bigfeet and the Asht that I didn't know!

I'm super stoked about this book.

75190 Sssshhhh! Don't tell anyone, but you can get this one free from Smashwords when you use code: CD52R

Code is good until Oct. 31, 2012!

75190 That's awesome Sherry. All they need to do is leave a comment on the blog post about the picture of bigfoot?

75190 So I'm deep into the project of writing the third book in The Undermountain Saga. I do have a tentative title, but I'm not ready to reveal it because I still might change it.

I have another topic for my process, but I thought I might just talk about it here.

I started Undermountain during NaNoWriMo a couple years ago. I had no idea what I was doing. I had a bunch of world building notes and a vague notion that I wanted a group of teens to go to the bigfeet's hidden city. What I didn't have was any characters, any major plot points, or any idea how the story would end.

For Afterlife, I outlined for a while until I couldn't stand not working on scenes. In particular a scene where Danny meets a certain ancient queen just got me really enthusiastic about writing.

For Book III, I am holding back a bit, and really focussing on the major plot issues and character arcs. I plan for this to be the final installment, so I need to make sure I tie up all the lose ends.

The good news is that I know how it ends, and I have never been so excited about getting to an ending. I can hardly wait to write it!

And that's good, because to release it on time (end of December) I have to be done with the first draft by the end of September.

75190 I'm hard at work on book three, Leigh!

75190 Alison, brilliant! I hope you enjoy it, and I'm looking forward to your review. Thanks for stopping by.

75190 I usually get kindle versions of books from Amazon, but more recently I've been getting physical copies at Barnes and Noble.

As an author I wonder how much time I should spend marketing to the Kobo crowd. And I don't get much business through Smashwords, though it's a useful place to send people for free copies using a code.

Yes. There really is no need to discuss it further :)

75190 Hi Sheri! The cover of What Kills Me looks pretty cool. But I'm a bit partial to Afterlife myself. I hope you enjoy it!

75190 The greatest album ever recorded was Boston by the band Boston. Disagree?
