His website is under construction right now, but you can see some of his illustration work on his deviant art profile at melvindevoor.deviantart.com

THG is the book I had to star reading three times before I got far enough to love it. But once I did, I couldn't put it down. I made people read it. I said, "get The Hunger Games and read it."
Why? The concept is so perfectly contained. A nationally televised fight to the death event featuring teenagers. The concept of the book provides the structure for the book. I wish, wish, wish, wish, wish I had thought of it.

"You shall not pass!"

Many think these books are for adolescent boys. They couldn't be more wrong.

This is probably the best book I won't ever read twice.

But now Brandon Sanderson is finishing it up, and he is doing an outstanding job. The books are just awesome and fast paced. The final volume should be out around January of 2013.
You need to give book one about 150 pages before deciding if you like it or not. But you will. Or else!

I'm super stoked about this book.

Code is good until Oct. 31, 2012!

Welcome Art! I hope you enjoy it.

I have another topic for my process, but I thought I might just talk about it here.
I started Undermountain during NaNoWriMo a couple years ago. I had no idea what I was doing. I had a bunch of world building notes and a vague notion that I wanted a group of teens to go to the bigfeet's hidden city. What I didn't have was any characters, any major plot points, or any idea how the story would end.
For Afterlife, I outlined for a while until I couldn't stand not working on scenes. In particular a scene where Danny meets a certain ancient queen just got me really enthusiastic about writing.
For Book III, I am holding back a bit, and really focussing on the major plot issues and character arcs. I plan for this to be the final installment, so I need to make sure I tie up all the lose ends.
The good news is that I know how it ends, and I have never been so excited about getting to an ending. I can hardly wait to write it!
And that's good, because to release it on time (end of December) I have to be done with the first draft by the end of September.

As an author I wonder how much time I should spend marketing to the Kobo crowd. And I don't get much business through Smashwords, though it's a useful place to send people for free copies using a code.
