So I just finished listening to Part 2. Bravo! I got a good laugh picturing Joe Biden doing detective work. I'm wondering if the author of this book (forgive me, I can't remember the name) was inspired by those silly memes you see with Obama telling Biden to stop with the practical jokes. One other thing, a request if you will. There was a novel you guys reviewed "The Scene," about crime and heroin addiction, originally published in the 60's. Well after finishing listening, I quick jotted the title down (I was on my lunchtime walk), deleted the podcast from my phone and realized I did not note the author. Any help you could provide would be appreciated. This will go on my to be read "as soon as possible" list.
Thank you so much.
I finally got a chance to listen to this, my first installment of Point Blank (not to be confused with another by the same name, downloaded in haste by mistake.) I'm glad you covered not only Moseley's book "Devil In a Blue Dress", but you gave some biographical background. How fascinating. Looking forward to the next installment....and looking forward to your international tour.
2 of yours are on my list. Here goes:1 - Black Wings Has My Angel - Eliot Chaze
2 - Kentucky Straight: Stories - Chris Offut
3 - The Talented Mr. Ripley - Patricia Highsmith
4 - The Winter of Frankie Machine - Don Winslow
5- The Killer Inside Me - Jim Thompson
Even though I am still working on The Killer Inside Me, it is a wonderful book. The main character is both chilling and calm in the way he goes about his business.
Tom wrote: "A friend leant me The City and the City to read while I was recovering from an operation over summer and I promptly didn’t get around to reading it. Have you read the book Cordelia, and if so would..."I watched The Wire religiously and it's on my Top 10 all-time television show list. Just curious, did you also watch Homicide? Another great show based on an excellent book, Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets.
I'm guessing Bad Guys is the South Korean production. Correct me if i'm wrong. I don't watch much television either, i'm burning the candle at both ends (and in the middle) as well. Most of my tv viewing is done during my commute...
Two things...I just started 'Black Spot' on Netflix, a French production based around murders in a logging community. The jury is till out, but it looks promising. I'm also enjoying 'The Deuce' on HBO. Created by David Simon (Homicide:Life on the Killing Street, The Wire, The Corner) and George Pelecanos, it depicts the seediness and grit of '70's New York City extremely well. Having grown up and lived most of my life in NYC, it makes me feel strangely nostalgic.
