Cindy, yes--reprehensible is a good word to describe "the one leg." She was almost comic relief, except that she made me angry and sad, too.

www.behindthebeautifulforevers.com is a nice resource if you'd like to learn more about the book before reading it.

The July book is Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer. It is an excellent nonfiction book that tells two storylines. The first is the story of two brothers who believed God told them to kill their sister-in-law and her baby. Along with that story, Krakauer has an interesting discussion at the end about the legal definition of insanity. The other storyline is the history of Mormonism. Krakauer has, in my opinion, and I've done a decent amount of study on Mormonism in the past, a very objective view.
