always bowled over by richard burton. think i must have come across the kasidah and been attracted to the refrain and lines like 'sit we where the roses glow' (not much grasp of content).
long ago read his wife isabel's no doubt censored account of his life. 'the greatest orientalist that england ever had and neglected', something like that. gorgeous sentence.
struggle with bruce chatwin shall try again.
like doris lessing's dense autobiography. have not read her other books. have not read samuel baker or heinrich barth either. on my reading list.

who are your favourite authors?

self publishing looks immensly dificult to me. is it?
