67670 Last night I had the pleasure of listening to the last chapter, A Peek at Bathsheba, and I must tell you this: her voice is the richest, most velvety, warm and engaging you have ever heard, even if--or maybe because--it came from the throat of David George, the voice talent for my book.

And today I listened to the last two pieces in this puzzle: the opening and closing credits, which truly brought home to me the fact that the production is complete. Take a listen, click here:

67670 Just finished reading A Road in the Sky: Extraordinary love stories of Ordinary people and here is my review:

Lyrical, deeply philosophical prose that melds together the everyday experiences of the characters and elevates them into something unique and at the same time, universal:

As their scorpio moved into the night that rushed in to swallow them, Kuku has a feeling that she was falling into an abyss. The journey had been much longer than she thought it would be. The deep ravine on the left did not scare her at all and she was no longer intimidated by the start naked mountains that towered over them.”

These words allow you to sense, in the most profound way, the transformation of the characters as they find a way out of their fears and trepidations into a more confident self. The stories are firmly planted in a reality intimately familiar to the author, as the character names and some of the titles such as ‘Bombay Blues’ suggest. Yet despite of the local flavor—or maybe because of it—the stories bring home to us, in beautiful, aromatic language, conflicts and issues that are part of the human experience. The stories are told with the power of quiet, gentle observation, noting not only behavior but also a sensual stream of consciousness:

“Angad stared at the ceiling, as he lay in bed with his hands beneath his head and wondered if it was Sunday, after all. There was unparalleled bliss in lying in the warmth of the quilt in a cold winter morning and he intended making the most of it.”

To use the author’s own words in her Afterwords, what really matters is that she stood in front of life, looked at it square in the eye, and painted the canvas of her stories with colors of her own. She found her own road in the sky.

Five stars.

67670 In my new release, Rise to Power, the first time David senses a conflict in his soul is in his youth, at the seminal moment when he is about to say farewell to Saul, and go face Goliath in battle:

“I lay the armor down at the king’s feet. It is leaning down there against my broken lyre. And a thought crosses my mind: here are the relics I am about to leave behind. Combat gear on one side—my string instrument on the other. Which way will I be remembered? Am I a fighter—or a poet?”

Inspired by art, here is the question: is David a killer or a poet?

67670 The life of David has numerous hair-raising moments. One of them is the slaying Goliath, after which the daughters of Israel come singing his praise. They do it with adoring voices that hide the horrific meaning of the words, words that glorify slaughter on the battlefield. Here is this moment, in the voice of David. Take a listen:

67670 Joan P. Lane is a Jamaican born author of mystery and suspense. Her book, The Tangled Web, is a story of international web of intrigue, nuder, and romance. I am thrilled to find her review of my novel, Apart From Love:

★★★★★ A beautifully written book, February 15, 2014

Apart From Love is the story of three people thrown together by unusual circumstances. An attractive middle aged man meets an uneducated teenage girl in an ice cream parlor. He is seduced by her and ends up marrying her much to the distress of his sisters and his son who returns home after a stint in Europe to find not only a step mother his own age, but that his mother, a concert pianist who his father led him to believe was always on tour, is instead in a nursing home in the last stages of a rare form of Alzheimer's disease.

Uvi Poznansky's words are like brushstrokes, painting a picture of these three tormented people and their environment in exquisite detail. She opens their hearts, their innermost thoughts to her reader, and shows the horror of Alzheimer's when father and son visit Theresa, his now ex-wife, in the nursing home. Despite the fact that she is completely incapacitated, Theresa hangs like a dark shadow over the new wife who feels she can never measure up to her.

Told by Ben the son and Anita the young wife, Apart From Love is a touching and unforgettable story of family conflict. I highly recommend it to readers of this genre.

67670 Here is a lovely new audible review, written by Aaron Paul Lazaar. Aaron Aaron is a mystery writer author, and many of his books have audiobook editions. I am thrilled by what he says about the narration of A Favorite Son:

"A Unique and Fascinating Listen!"
Where does A Favorite Son rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It's very hard for me to place this among my other audio books, which are all either mystery, suspense, or thriller. This is a totally different style of book, so it would have to be looked at as a standalone. That said, this is a superbly produced, high quality piece of work. The story is beautifully written and the narration is top notch.

What did you like best about this story?
Although this type of parable-style story set in distant desert lands was completely out of my usual genre, I found it fascinating, and was disappointed when it was over.

What about David Kudler’s performance did you like?
I loved the narrator's amazing array of voices. His accents were so well done, I was blown away by his interpretation and acting skills. I will be looking him up to see what else he does in "real life," for he sounded as though he could have done a one man show on Broadway, he was "that" good.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No, but it piqued my curiosity constantly. I loved the twists and turns and symbolic nature of the story and objects highlighted within.

Any additional comments?
A surprising gem among books - take a listen!

Come Valentine's day?

You bring a dozen blood-red roses
She thinks, Is this how he proposes?

With a bottle of wine
You whisper, Be mine

You offer a big chocolate heart
She thinks, Well, that's a start

She loosens your tie
And gives a deep sigh

The fire is burning, the music is on
But all you can see on her face is a yawn

Then from your pocket you pull out the ring
She shakes her head, No, I want one more thing

What does she want, come Valentine's day?
In cupid's name, what should I say?

She smiles, Bring me Home, Apart From Love
Then I'll be yours, like a hand and a glove

And you say, Give me A Favorite Son
Now let's blow off the candles, one by one

The flame goes out, all Twisted in smoke

67670 I am delighted to find a new review, written by the author of The Trap, D.W. Hendrick.
Here is what he writes about my book, Rise to Power:

★★★★★ Now is the time to break out that special bottle of fine wine., February 5, 2014
By D.W.Headrick - See all my reviews

Yes, the reading of "Rise To Power" is a special occasion, an event worthy of celebration. When a compilation of the finest works of Uvi Poznansky is amassed, and this will happen, "Rise to Power" will undoubtedly be a featured entry.

The good fortune I experienced upon discovering Ms. Poznansky's work has evolved into a literary blessing - one I eagerly share with all my friends and associates. She never disappoints. No, on the contrary, she always surprises us with her mastery of the scribal art form. If you haven't experienced her poetic style, her creative and uniquely intimate prose, and if you are a lover of exquisite writing, you have been needlessly deprived of a wonderful reading experience.

One of the greatest challenges an author can undertake is his or her effort to "humanize" an idol, a person made immortal because of their nobility or heroism. This is especially true when the subject is a religious symbol, a virtual Biblical icon throughout the ages. When Uvi Poznanski began her endeavor to reveal the humanity, to show us the heart of a boy, a king, an old man we now know as the Biblical King David, she undertook an awesome task, indeed. But, and this comes as no surprise, she has presented us an uncommon but wholly believable portrait that allows us to identify with, empathize with, and feel closer to the second King of the United Kingdom of Israel and Judah; closer than we might ever have imagined. And she does so with brilliant virtuosity. Here is a sampling of the author’s genius from Rise to Power as she describes the lamentations of an old King recalling and yearning for youth:

“And at the last moment before my eyes close, before it is time to sleep, the light grows stronger. It bursts out with a shine brighter than anything I have seen, anything I have imagined before. A gentle wind starts blowing into the silk curtains overhead, filling them till they become pregnant with air. In one breath they open wide apart, to reveal naked walls. A minute later, the entire palace crumbles to dust, and from it a great valley breaks open.
It is then that I realize one thing: I must have been mistaken. It is not an old man that is reflected here, in the metallic surface. Instead it is someone else, someone I wish I could beckon home one more time.

There is David, a young boy with sharp eyes. Morning breeze plays with his curls. It whispers words of hope and promise in his ear. Yet unscarred by battle, his arms are smooth, his hands—strong. They are the hands of a killer.
There is David. Focusing his eyes across the valley, the boy is looking for a way to become larger than life. There he stands, ready for his enemy. Ready for the kill.

I am his future, but he is oblivious to me. I smile at him.
He is slow to smile back.”

I need say no more. You have sampled the brilliance. Read Uvi Poznanky’s “Rise to Power”.

Like a unique tapestry of words, Twisted by Uvi Poznansky invites the reader to fall into each one of the four stories and come back out with their own interpretation of her words. A little on the dark side, sometimes with touches of humor, each tale is told in the first person, giving life to the character through the talent of Ms. Poznansky. I Am What I Am is the struggle of a woman dealing with the devil . The Hollow is a short tale of reality versus what is perceived. Next is I,Woman, followed by The One Who never Leaves, that is told from the view of a cat.

Dark, intense, entertaining, thought-provoking and emotional, these short stories each hold their own brand of magnetisim that lasts long after the last word is read. Ms. Poznansky has given the reader a wealth of depth in few words.

67670 It is such a thrill to read a review written by Michelle Bellon. She is a young yet prolific author. I have read two of her recent books, Embracing Me, Embracing You and her newest work, Rogue Alliance, both of which were absolutely great. This is what she posted on Amazon for my new novel, Rise to Power:

★★★★★ A Tale Untold, February 4, 2014

This review is from: Rise to Power (The David Chronicles) (Kindle Edition)
Once again, Poznansky has taken an age old tale and breathed new life into it.

This story starts out a bit slow and even a little confusing as you try to gain ground on the emotional terrain of the characters. However, as you acquaint yourself with the prose and style you gain a whole new appreciation for the story as it unfolds.

For me, the crux of this complex story illustrates our underlying human nature and how we perceive not only ourselves, but how we see ourselves in the world. The conflict that we have between our ego self and our spirit self. This is what David struggles with and the author tells it with vivid imagery that gives texture and brings it to life.

67670 She goes over there, next to that window, which outlines her figure with silvery touches of moonlight. With slow movements Michal unties her silk belt. Her skirt slips, it cascades down from the waist, revealing another skirt underneath, and another one under that. Lace over silk over crinoline, each layer gives out a difference sound, a different rustle as they collapse onto the floor, creating one ripple around another around her.
Standing there she looks like the stem of a flower whose withered petals have crumpled around the rim of the vase.
With her narrow hips and her flat belly, which is matched by an equally flat chest, Michal looks like a boy. And trapped in that skinny body, pounding there with palpable longing, is the heart of a woman, a proud woman, cursed with love.
Next to the wall, moonlight glances off the silk strings of the harp. Come morning, I will do her bidding. I will play for her.

Uvi Poznansky’s Rise to Power is a tale of madmen and kings, youth and old age, prison cells and freedom’s ring. It’s drawn from Biblical history, enjoyed through the eyes of modernity, and it vividly recreates character and place as opposed to the more familiar caricature and reverence.

This David’s music affords him rock-star status in court; his imagination offers the surprise of opportunity; and his ambition drives friends, wives and story toward the well-known tale that his well-chosen historians will tell. From the loneliness of historical irony to the lure of significance, the author’s vivid prose blends the haunting tones of harp with harping determination, quoting and personifying the Psalms, offering intriguing answers to history’s queries, and revealing the warrior poet as a master of pithy quotes and political choice. It’s an intriguing tale, told in an intriguing blend of old and new, with the weight of faith and history nicely balanced by the immediate self-centeredness of youth.

Offering a tortuous course in court intrigue, and blending the violence of war with the music of influence, Rise to Power leads the immature and ambitious David to his throne, leaving the door open for growth in more Chronicles to come. I shall eagerly await them.

67670 Just finished reading 121 Oak Street and here is my review:

Delightfully told, with the air of an innocent fairy tale, this story would be satisfying to a child, and perhaps even more so to the more mature among us who wish to be heard and appreciated by eager listeners.

The story opens with an old man, and a single listener at his feet. “The old man leaned back into his rocking chair, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath to gather his thoughts.” As his story unfolds, “Not a child moved a muscle, but all listened intently,” as the story comes to life, and as the characters are fleshed out. “They knew that once Blackbeard and his men had regrouped they would be chasing after them.” By the time the story comes to its close, a multitude of listeners await anxiously to hear the old man. “This time the grownups were pushed into the streets by a host of children all taking their seats on the lawns, steps and sidewalks.

A lovely story. Five stars.

I was dazed with the beautiful enormity emotions as I read through the pages of this eloquent read. The range in which this read has stretched my heart and soul through an abundant of emotions that have enraptured my mind. I found myself laughing with joy for the wonder of greatness felt. Angry when taken through the edges of selfish irony, and pausing as I try to ascertain the meaning of a secret thought or look upon the face of the individual expressed within a poem or short story being penned. My tears then flowed when I found myself caught up in the agony of the moments within a touching story spoken of through the pages titled “A Heartbeat Reversed”.

I have read work from this author once or twice before, and each time I’m taken in with amazement and my intellect and emotions are further stretched, enlightened and richly nourished. Author Uvi Poznansky has an amazing and brilliant way of taking you within a world through the pages of her novels that touches heritage, poetic prose, artistic creativity and talented writing.
Once again I am in awe as I am also equally saddened to have completed another truly touching read by this author. Only because reading for the first time gives you a special something that can never be a first again, but I have definitely been embraced and overwhelmed to the point that I will be picking it up again. Hoping to capture the feelings I felt once more…… Absolutely 5 Stars!!! (WaAr) (Read 2 de Enero/January 2014.)
