What social networks are you using as a book author? And which of them have you found to be most effective.

They've cut back or eliminated their book review sections. Many now use syndicated content from the New York Times or Washington Post (which are not known to review books from unknown authors).
Press releases to targeted magazines, on the other hand, is still a very viable way to get noticed.

To create a relationship, offer that site or blog some great content: a book for review, a book excerpt, an interview with you, a guest blog post, a podcast, etc.
Focus on high-traffic, highly targeted blogs and websites.
