With a heavy emphasis on the 'more or less' part, the first answer is 'yes.'

The second answer is 'yes, very much so.' Before the trilogy is over, the inhabitants of the Crescent Moon Kingdoms will have been subjected to a Crusades -style invasion.

The khalif seemed to have as much adventure as anyone else :) plus the cool throne. Even the falcon prince chose that path..."

Fair enough. NOW GET IN THE BOX! :p http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_J-eVhPbQ1n8...

65868 Hi again, all!

Question of the Day:

If you found yourself called to the adventurer's life in The Crescent Moon Kingdoms, what path would you pursue?

Ghul hunter? Dervish? Alkhemist? Magus? Bandit? Tribes(wo)man?

I'll respond to comments as I'm able throughout the day.

Adoulla mentions that the ghul hunters in Rughal-ba are, as an order, sort of favored slaves of that kingdom's High Sultaan. Readers will get an up-close view of this in later books.

Thanks for reading!

Nice...
I wonder, are there any other things that Adoulla could do to lose his Ghul Hunter powers? Also,..."

The short answer to this is "only God knows." There were a number of points where it was a challenge balancing gamer-ish, highly taxonomized magic and magic appropriate to a world whose inhabitants see themselves as living in the Creation of a provident but often inscrutable God.

That's about as perfect a 'You'll find out in Book II!' question as I could imagine :)

The audiobook is AMAZING but the pronunciations in it aren't canonical.

Adoulla = Ah-doo-lah
Mouw Awa = Moo-ow-wah

Sadly, Adoulla will completely lose the power to fart should he ever wed...

Boxers. Who ever heard of blue silk briefs?

No, he played pretty much the role I'd always meant him to play. He was there to help the reader see Mouw Awa and Orshado at their grisly best. ...aaand this is reminding me that I should add a spoilers warning to the group! :)
