Heidi! Why did I never see this?!? I hope we connected by e-mail, because I would have been happy to do this for you. Especially since the Thin Within plan always appealed to me -- the concept of the hunger scale and our body knowing when it's satiated.

Congratulations! 82 pounds was about the size of my son when he was 11 years old... amazing to think about that. What an achievement, Vickie!

Welcome Vickie! Anyone who wants to know more about South Beach, be sure to take Vickie up on her offer. She's such an inspiring person! She's lost... what?... 80-some pounds now?

A question I am frequently asked is this: Now that you've written the book, which diet plan among all the plans you researched do you think you'd use?
All of the plans in How We Did It are compelling -- after all, everyone in the book succeeded! But I would have to say that for philosophy, I like Thin Within, a plan that doesn't demonize any food, but instead suggests we listen to our body's signals -- eat only when you are hungry and stop before you are full. It's good advice that I also heard from the dietitians I talked to.
For recipes, I have to say I've come to love the simple and beautiful recipes of South Beach. Thank you, Cynthia and Vickie, for introducing them to me! For those who don't want to sacrifice taste or resign themselves to blah presentation, South Beach is a great go-to plan.

I'll start off by saying that I lost 30 pounds. I didn't use a name-brand plan, but I knew that what I was doing would work. Basically, I ate less (and more healthfully) and started moving. I chose an activity that I felt I could stay with -- swimming laps -- and I have. Seven years later, I'm still swimming laps, eating well and keeping the 30 pounds off. It sounds so simple, but I'm telling you, I fought the exercise part all the way! I'd never done anything athletic or even physical in my life (except for a brief period when I was a cheerleader... yes, it's true!). But I know I have to do it, so I do. I am in awe of the folks in How We Did It who grew to love exercise. Many, many people went on to run marathons and even enter triathlons! They're my heroes!

Welcome to the group, Heidi! If you want to meet an inspirational person, here she is. Heidi lost 100 pounds using the faith-based program Thin Within. I tell her story in How We Did It. I'm proud to count her as a friend.
